The Pilgrims have made contact with the Native population on American soil. They came as friends and allies, wanting to help the Pilgrims be successful in their new settlement.

It is now time for them to be introduced to one of the most powerful and well respected Indian leaders in the area, and the success of this meeting will prove to be imperitive to the Pilgrims' survival.

The Pilgrims have now chosen a spot to begin settling- Plymouth, Massachussets. Time is against them as they begin to build homes and gathering places; it is the middle of winter in New England and death and sickness are ever present in the new found colony.

Within a few short weeks, a visitor, native to the Americas, will make himself known to the Pilgrims and will become a friend and ally. Without this encounter, the Pilgrims may not have made it through their first winter in Plymouth.

But today I'm talking about another time, hundreds of years ago, when corn was quite literally a miracle!

On today's episode we're going to learn about how the pilgrims kept from starving as they found land in America. This story is one that can be perceived as one of greed or selfishness, when we remove context and human nature.

But I want to share context, and help you understand the character and motives behind these early settlers. Tune in to hear all the juicy details, pun intended.

Today our story continues with the brave pilgrims who took a voyage across the sea. On board the Mayflower, it was evident who the pilgrims were placing their trust and faith in. With God at the helm, they had no reason to doubt what they were doing was a good thing.

This episode covers details of the Mayflower Compact, and where the pilgrims intended to land, and where they actually landed.

We keep diving into the details that will not only inform you, but help you understand and connect with these people from long ago who led the way in creating the nation we call home.
