We have been big fans of Liz Garbus for a long time, and we were lucky enough to have her on our show at Sundance 2020 for her narrative film, Lost Girls. This time, she's back with a portrayal of arguably one of the most influential environmental leaders in our history, Jacques Cousteau. Her film, Becoming Cousteau, documents how he first fell in love with the sea (spoiler alert: it was all because of an accident), how he turned from explorer to activist, his complicated family life, and the mistakes he made along the way to greatness. She gets into the many years it took to gain access (and go through) his archival footage, the importance of sharing his story for future generations, and her insight on being a woman in a male dominated field (and a very successful one, at that). You can find Becoming Cousteau at a theater near you!
