Becoming Human

John Dilly is an animator, actor, writer, and producer who is releasing a new film, “A Goose In High Heels”. Dilly has won and was nominated for several film and animation awards. He is known for his cartoons, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dirdy Birdy, The chicken from outer space, and Life in Transition which you can see at www.stretchfilms.com.

Since childhood, I was drawn to Dilly’s stories which explored fear, psychopathy & love. His work took my mind to uncomfortable and unfamiliar places, but I couldn’t look away. I talked with Dilly to listen to his perspective on his art, life, and his relationship to an audience. In our conversation; we explored the internal landscape of the human mind and other animals, symbolism as it's told through religious stories and modern media, the value of humility and humor, his experience creating his new film, “A Goose In High Heels.”

I met Jordan Shaver at an open mic, he’s a comedian and entrepreneur who has wiggled and writhed navigating his mind. I enjoy these conversations, I’m reminded that my insecurities are a dillusion and I am not unique in my struggle, a comforting reminder making it easier to make the uncomfortable choices and continue toward my desire. We talk about writing, helping others who are struggling, comedy and more. I started this podcast inspired by the contrast of people who struggled with destructive and constructive behavior. I wanted to showcase the variety of perspectives and experiences that we have. I have really enjoyed it thus far and I thought this would be a good time to ramble about life while I'm spending my days scouring the wild. When I return, the podcasts will be back to normal.
