Welcome to episode 66 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.

After Avatar Press finished releasing their comic books centred around the world of Night Of The Living Dead in the mid-2010s, fans were curious to see which comic company would take on NOTLD in that media. They didn't have to wait too long because Double Take Comics, a partner of the video game company Take Two Interactive, took the reigns and relauched the comic side of the franchise. However, their approach was to release 10 seperate NOTLD comics that could be read co-currently at the same time. On this episode of the podcast, your host Bede Jermyn takes a look at one the first ones to be made: the2015 5 issue mini-series Rise.

Welcome to episode 65 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.

After the 2008 remake of Day Of The Dead failed to strike a cord with critics and horror fans when it was released straight-to-DVD, you would think the DOTD rights holders Taurus Entertainment and the film's production company Millennium Media would have been deterred by the reaction it recieved. However, as the old saying goes: first you don't succeed, try again. 9 years later, the two companies decided to team up to remake DOTD once more with the 2017 film Day Of The Dead: Bloodline, which directed by Hèctor Hernández Vicens (The Corpse Of Anna Fritz).

Romero's third entry in his Dead series Day Of The Dead would also recieve the remake treatment from Hollywood as well. Horror fans didn't have to wait that long, as it was released a few years later. For this episode of the podcast, Bede takes a look at the 2008 remake of Day Of The Dead from director Steve Miner (House, Lake Placid) and writer Jeffrey Riddick (Final Destination, Tamara).

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. Unlike the main episodes of the show that only focus on all things related and linked to Night Of The Living Dead, these bonus ones will have your host Bede Jermyn explore other random zombie films (from both the famous to the obscure) that were made in the aftermath of George A. Romero's 1968 classic masterpiece.

On the previous bonus episode of the show, your host Bede Jermyn discussed the 2002 classic 28 Days Later and its sequel 28 Weeks Later in honour of the release of the long-awaited third entry in the franchise. At the end of the episode, Bede said that he would do a follow-up one on the the third film itself. For this episode as promised, Bede diving into the highly anticipated sequel 28 Years Later, the first in a new trilogy from the team behind the first film director Danny Boyle (Sunshine) and writer Alex Garland (Men).

Joining Bede to discuss the latest instalment in the series, are three returning guests who were previously on that bonus episode on 28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later: Jason Shawhan (co-host of ⁠Fearless Pretender: The Jennifer Jason Leigh Podcast⁠), Carmelita Valdez McKoy and Barton Roberts. However, this episode took different approach and was recorded in two seperate segemts. The first half being with Jason & Carmelita, while the second half is with Barton since he couldn't make the intital first recording due to sickness. Did 28 Years Later live up to the hype for Bede and his guests? Or was it a disappointment? Listen and find out!

After Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was released in 1986 to both a mixed reception and poor box office, The Cannon Group decided to sell the rights to the series. Now that their A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise was wrapping up, New Line Cinema picked up the rights in hopes of making TCM the studio's next big horror franchise. Unfortunately, the resulting film suffered from behind-the-scenes troubles, recut to ribbons and faired even worse critically/commercially: the 1990 sequel Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III from director Jeff Burr (From A Whisper To A Scream, The Stepfather II) and writer David J. Schow (Critters 3 & 4, The Crow '94)

Welcome to episode 62 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.

After the release of Day Of The Dead in 1985, it would be another 20 years until George A. Romero would his next instalment of his Dead Series. However, it wasn't the only Romero related film that was released in 2005. The Taurus Entertainment Company tried on to capitalise on the release of Romero's Land Of The Dead by producing an *unofficial* direct-to-video prequel/sequel to DOTD, which they actually owned the rights to. For this episode, takes a look at the resulting film: the infamous Day Of The Dead 2: Contagium from directors Ana Clavell & James Dudelson (Creepshow 3).

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. Unlike the main episodes of the show that only focus on all things related and linked to Night Of The Living Dead, these bonus ones will have your host Bede Jermyn explore other random zombie films (from both the famous to the obscure) that were made in the aftermath of George A. Romero's 1968 classic masterpiece.

While zombie films were hugely popular in the 30 years after the release of the original Night Of The Living Dead, the sub-genre started to fade out with audiences once the '90s rolled around. As we see with horror time and again, it only takes one film to restart a sub-genre. For the zombie-genre, that was the 2002 British film 28 Days Later from Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and Oscar-nominated writer Alex Garland (Ex Machina).

Even though it has been debated whether it is an actual zombie or not, there's no denying that it, along with its 2007 sequel 28 Weeks Later (directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of Intacto fame), helped restart the sub-genre for cinemagoers. Now in honour of the release of the long-awaited third entry 28 Years Later in cinemas, your host Bede Jermyn thought it be a good opportunity revist the first two films in the series. After the release of the 2009 reboot of Friday The 13th, there were plans to make a sequel to it. Unfortunately, it didn't come to fruition. Paramount/Warner Bros. along with Platinum Dunes decided to reboot the franchise again with a new film. Two scripts were written: one from Nick Antosca (co-writer of Antlers and creator of TV show Channel Zero) and the other from Aaron Guzikowski (writer of Prisoners and creator of TV show Raised By Wolves). Once again due to many factors, neither script was made into a film.
