Someone recently told David Boim he dreamed too big, his response? “You think too small.”
It’s a challenge to the ceilings we place on our businesses through what we believe is possible, who we surround ourselves with and what we’re willing to question.
In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO conversation, I connected with David Boim, business strategist, CEO mentor and Founder of DSB Exit Strategy, to explore thinking bigger, leadership capacity, strategic execution and meaningful change.
Having helped scale and sell 17 companies over 35 years, David has seen how founders can become the greatest obstacle to their own growth.
He shared the story of a software company that took 20 years to reach $13 million in revenue. Its founder believed he’d taken it as far as he could. By bringing in experienced leaders and learning to delegate, the company grew to $50 million in three years and was ultimately sold for $500 million.
The shift wasn’t only commercial, the founder had to change how they led.
We explored why revenue growth doesn’t always create business value, how a new sales channel transformed another company, and why an ambitious vision needs commercial discipline and execution.
David also shared a childhood story that revealed where his belief in change began. Following the 1963 Birmingham church bombing, his father asked what he would do about injustice. That question helped shape David’s lifelong conviction that ordinary people can change the world, a belief he has carried into business, activism and mentoring other CEOs.
Approaching 75, David continues exploring AI, learning and challenging convention, just as he did when he arranged his high-school classroom in a circle to encourage students to question and learn from each other.
We returned to a confronting leadership question: when does the person who built the business become the one holding it back?
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What becomes possible when we challenge our own limitations and create the leadership, strategy and capacity to realise a bigger vision?

✨ Reimagine established approaches when a different business model, channel or leadership structure could unlock greater value.
RELEARN: TEST • IMPLEMENT • EMBODY
✨ Connect ambitious vision with strategy, execution and accountability, continually reshaping the plan as circumstances evolve.
✨ Build a culture where questioning, ongoing training and shared learning become part of how the business operates.
ACTIVE RECOVERY: INTEGRATE • RESTORE • EVOLVE
✨ Create leadership capacity by developing others rather than becoming the single point of failure in the business.
✨ Move from simply embracing change to living it, remaining curious and willing to evolve at every stage of life.

Sometimes the smallest creations can hold the greatest meaning.
A beautifully crafted treat might seem like a simple pleasure, but when it's created around someone's story or life experience, it can become something far more meaningful.
In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO conversation, I connected with Christine McInnes, Founder and creative artist behind Christine's Edible Art, to explore creativity, human connection and the freedom to build a business around something you genuinely love.
Christine's journey began with a dessert table for her sister's 40th birthday. What started as a love of food and creating beautiful things evolved into a business celebrating life's personal moments through edible art.
One story I particularly loved was Christine creating roses to celebrate someone's first anniversary following a stem cell procedure, marking a deeply personal moment of renewal and appreciation for life.
It illustrated how creativity can help people feel seen, valued and connected.
Christine describes her creations as “mini masterpieces,” imagining something and finding a way to bring it into form, even when the original idea doesn't go to plan.
When a design feels impossible, she's learned to ask, “I can't do it this way, but how can I pivot?”
We explored how this thinking translates into leadership and business, alongside her decision to continue a finance career she loves while growing her creative venture.
Rather than following a conventional entrepreneurial path, Christine has created the freedom to enjoy both, without the pressure of needing every order or competing with other creators.
We also discussed intentional human connection in an increasingly digital world, creativity as a source of energy, and her plans to bring people together through hands-on workshops.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION

Being everywhere doesn't necessarily mean your brand is being seen where it matters.
As AI reshapes how people discover and evaluate businesses, understanding what makes a brand visible, credible and distinctive is becoming an important strategic question.
In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO conversation, I connected with Jennifer Harrison, Founder and CEO of Pando Public Relations and creator of QueryScope, to explore how AI search is reshaping brand discovery, visibility and authority, and why human expertise matters more than ever.
After 25 years in communications, Jennifer began questioning why some brands appeared in AI-generated answers while others disappeared, including her own agency, which had previously enjoyed strong search visibility.
That curiosity led her to create QueryScope, an intelligence platform identifying the sources influencing how AI represents and recommends brands.
What I found fascinating was Jennifer's challenge to the idea that businesses need to be everywhere.
AI search introduces a more complex relationship between sources, authority and the questions people are asking, creating an opportunity to become more deliberate about where we show up and how we build credibility.
We also explored the explosion of AI-generated content, the temptation to outsource our thinking and authentic voice, and why our ability to interpret, question, create and connect remains fundamental to a distinctive brand.
One observation resonated with my own thinking around Bee Formless™: “Your lack of formula is exactly what we crave.”
As technology makes it easier to produce more of everything, understanding who we are, what we stand for and which parts of our identity should remain distinctly our own becomes increasingly valuable.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
How do we reshape brand visibility without losing the human identity and distinctiveness that give it meaning?
LEARN: DIAGNOSE • UNDERSTAND • SUBTRACT • CHALLENGE
✨ Understand how AI search is changing brand discovery and why traditional visibility metrics no longer tell the whole story.
✨ Challenge the assumption that appearing across more channels automatically creates greater authority or connection.
UNLEARN: REIMAGINE • RESHAPE • CREATE
✨ Rethink brand strategy around audience questions and the sources influencing AI-generated answers.
✨ Reimagine the relationship between personal brand, business identity and authentic communication as technology changes how we're represented.
RELEARN: TEST • IMPLEMENT • EMBODY
✨ Use intelligence and evidence to make more deliberate decisions about where to invest in visibility, PR and communications.
✨ Strengthen human expertise, original thinking and distinctive expression rather than outsourcing your brand's substance.
ACTIVE RECOVERY: INTEGRATE • RESTORE • EVOLVE
✨ Reconsider the pressure to produce more content across more channels and focus on genuine connection and credibility.
✨ Continuously review what's working, what needs reshaping and which distinctive assets remain essential as the environment evolves.

“We are in our Darwinian moment right now.”
Christine Heckart wasn't talking about survival of the biggest, strongest or richest. She was talking about adapting as leadership, business and life shift faster than our old playbooks.
In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO conversation, I connected with Christine, Founder and CEO of Xapa, technology leader, board director and conscious capitalist, whose career reveals the difference between announcing transformation and actually living it.
Her observation that many organisations have a “gigantic human-size hole” in their AI strategy gets right to the heart of that disconnect. We can put powerful tools into everyone's hands, but knowing how to use them isn't the same as knowing what to build, why it matters or how to judge the outcome.
Here's the tension I found fascinating: the people closest to the work may see the greatest possibilities for AI, while the critical thinking, business context and judgement they need have traditionally been developed at the top.
Christine is challenging that divide through Xapa, bringing leadership development into daily practice, because meaningful transformation requires us to change how we show up, not simply what we know.
We also explored conscious capitalism, why top-down change is losing its relevance and what becomes possible when creativity is built on strong human foundations.
Christine's philosophy of “bounce forward” connected deeply with my thinking around antifragility. When life or business reshapes us, the opportunity isn't to return to what was, but to take what we've learned and shape what comes next.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What becomes possible when we stop treating transformation as a destination and start developing the human capabilities to continuously evolve?
LEARN: DIAGNOSE • UNDERSTAND • SUBTRACT • CHALLENGE
✨ Recognise the human-sized hole in AI strategies that prioritise technology adoption without developing the capabilities required to create meaningful outcomes.
✨ Challenge traditional transformation models where strategy is communicated, yet the behavioural change needed to implement it is overlooked.
UNLEARN: REIMAGINE • RESHAPE • CREATE
✨ Rethink leadership development as something everyone should have access to, rather than a privilege reserved for those at the top.
✨ Reshape transformation from top-down implementation towards engaging the people closest to the work, where new opportunities for innovation often emerge.
RELEARN: TEST • IMPLEMENT • EMBODY
✨ Develop critical thinking, business judgement, communication, trust and adaptability through continuous practice rather than one-off learning experiences.
✨ Recognise creativity, imagination and the ability to ask better questions as increasingly valuable capabilities in an AI-enabled world.
ACTIVE RECOVERY: INTEGRATE • RESTORE • EVOLVE
✨ Build resilience and adaptability as ongoing capabilities, recognising that change is continuous rather than something we navigate once.
✨ Bounce forward through setbacks by envisioning a different future and developing the skills, habits and tenacity to create it.

In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO conversation, I connected with Frances (Frankie) Milvydas, Founder of In The Making, a communications agency built around creativity, relationships and helping brands make a meaningful impact.
Having spent much of my own career in brand, communications and business transformation, I particularly enjoyed exploring an industry we both know well, including its relentless pursuit of growth and the pressure to keep chasing the next opportunity.
When Frankie started In The Making in 2021, she wasn't planning to build an agency with multiple offices and a growing team. She wanted greater freedom over her time, the work she took on and the people she worked with.
What she calls her happy accident quickly became something much bigger.
Five years later, Frankie describes having lived nine lives in five years, including a frightening period when client retainers reduced, projects were delayed and she was carrying the highest payroll the business had ever experienced.
That moment changed how she approached growth, risk and the responsibility of leadership.
We explored why she's become more deliberate about who she chooses to work with, the importance of trusting her intuition and why long-term client relationships can be a more meaningful measure of business success than constantly pursuing new business.
Our conversation also moved into the changing world of brand and PR, including Frankie's concept of brand listening and why AI is creating new opportunities for communications professionals to become guardians of brand positioning, reputation and the stories being told about businesses.
And through it all, Frankie reminded us that we can take our work seriously without allowing it to become our entire lives.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What changes when we stop measuring success solely by how much we grow and start considering the relationships, energy and experiences we're creating along the way?
LEARN: DIAGNOSE • UNDERSTAND • SUBTRACT • CHALLENGE
✨ Challenge traditional measures of agency success and the assumption that more clients, revenue and headcount always mean a better business.
✨ Recognise the personal and commercial cost of saying yes to opportunities that don't feel aligned.
UNLEARN: REIMAGINE • RESHAPE • CREATE
✨ Rethink growth through client retention, incremental revenue and relationships built on mutual respect.
✨ Reimagine PR as an integral part of business strategy, brand positioning and reputation rather than a communications activity added at the end.

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Conversations, I connected with Adrian Wolfberg, organisational scientist, advisor and Founder of Organizational Insight Consulting, for a fascinating exploration of AI, critical thinking, cognitive acuity and why the frameworks we've relied on to understand the world may no longer reflect the reality we're living in.
Drawing on a career spanning naval operations, intelligence and organisational research, Adrian explores how people develop insights, interpret complexity and make decisions when established ways of thinking are challenged.
One of the most interesting ideas Adrian introduced was that we're experiencing a transformation unlike anything human civilisation has encountered before, yet we're still trying to understand it through frameworks shaped by the Industrial Revolution.
We explored Adrian's concept of shared consciousness between humans and AI, and why he believes we need to rethink AI as something more than a tool. While AI can process information, identify patterns and generate possibilities at extraordinary speed, Adrian argues that understanding context, framing problems and considering the human consequences of decisions become increasingly important.
We then moved into the contradiction of clarity. When information is presented confidently and authoritatively, whether by another person or AI, we can become less inclined to question what we're being told.
We also explored cognitive offloading, the emerging leadership competency of cognitive acuity and why learning must evolve from accumulating knowledge towards recognising when our existing frames no longer reflect reality.
Adrian challenged our relationship with time itself. As AI accelerates the pace of work, we may need to do something that feels completely contradictory: slow down, develop exquisite awareness of the present and give ourselves the space to think.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What happens when the frameworks that once helped us understand the world begin limiting our ability to see what's changing?
Through the Bee Formless™ methodology, this is how I saw the shift unfold:

✨ Continuously reassess how humans and AI contribute as circumstances and understanding evolve.
ACTIVE RECOVERY: INTEGRATE • RESTORE • EVOLVE

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Conversations, I connected with Elise Krentzel, Founder of the Human Atlas Institute, strategic business advisor, author and entrepreneur, for a colourful conversation exploring identity, story, culture, entrepreneurship and creating a life on our own terms.
Elise has spent decades building businesses across five countries, navigating different cultures, taking risks and challenging conventional expectations.
Her extraordinary journey began at nineteen, when she travelled to Japan as a journalist accompanying the rock band KISS. The band returned home, while Elise stayed for five years, beginning a life that would take her through Switzerland, France, Sweden, the Netherlands and eventually Austin, Texas.
Through these experiences, Elise recognised five interconnected threads: geography, identity, culture, history and beauty. They now form the foundations of her Human Atlas work, exploring how the places we inhabit influence who we become and how we see the world.
One of the most interesting parts of our conversation was Elise’s perspective on identity. Earlier in life, she defined herself through what she was doing professionally. As she evolved, the question shifted towards who she was being.
We explored the courage to look beneath the surface, confront what we’ve ignored and recognise how our values, intuition and experiences shape our individuality.
Elise also shared the thinking behind her latest book, Rogue Entrepreneur, which brings together entrepreneurship, motherhood, cultural adaptation and reinvention. For Elise, entrepreneurship extends into life itself, through curiosity, imagination and a willingness to explore.
“Life is an art form.”
That philosophy is also informing the Human Atlas Institute, where Elise is bringing together people from different disciplines to challenge perceptions and explore new ways of seeing the world.

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Conversations, I connected with Michele Berdinis, Founder of Beeline Legal, for a really personal conversation about identity, reinvention, freedom and what happens when the life we've worked so hard to build no longer reflects who we truly are.
Michele had followed the path of being the “good girl.” She went to university, became a lawyer, married, raised two children and made partner at her law firm. By every conventional measure, she had achieved success, yet when her youngest child left for college, she confronted something she could no longer ignore. She was miserable.
What followed was a profound reshaping of her life. She left her marriage, walked away from her law firm partnership, moved from Colorado to New York City and eventually created Beeline Legal, a business designed around the freedom she had spent years wanting.
One of the most moving moments came when Michele shared something her dad said towards the end of his life. As her mum reminded Michele's children to be good, he quietly added: “Yeah, but not too good.”
Those few words gave Michele permission to question the expectations she had carried for so long, and we explored how much of our identity can become shaped by who we believe we're supposed to be.
What I found equally interesting was how Michele designed her business around the life she wanted. By moving away from billable hours, simplifying her practice and automating repetitive work, she created space to focus on the thinking she loves, while having the flexibility to work from anywhere.
We also connected personal identity with business and brand. Michele explained why the strongest trademarks often communicate how customers feel rather than simply describing what a business does. It created a discussion about our own distinctive identities, what we choose to protect and how we want to be remembered.
Then there was her philosophy on change, drawn from climbing mountains in Colorado. Even when exhausted, with little oxygen and no clear sense of how much further she had to go, she reminded herself to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What becomes possible when we stop living through expectations and start shaping a life that reflects who we truly are?
Through the Bee Formless™ methodology, this is how I saw the shift unfold:

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Conversations, I connected with Brad Englert, author of Spheres of Influence, advisor and former technology executive, whose four-decade career has given him a fascinating perspective on what changes in business, what endures and why transformation remains fundamentally human.
Brad has lived through enormous shifts in technology, from mainframes to cloud computing and now AI, yet some of his most valuable lessons have come from understanding people, building relationships and recognising that trust cannot be created through technology alone.
When Brad became Chief Information Officer at the University of Texas at Austin, he inherited an organisation caught in a culture of constant fire drills, heroic fixes and strained customer relationships. Rather than immediately introducing another system or strategy, he started by listening to 300 people across the university to understand what needed to change.
One story particularly captured the power of that approach. A customer who had openly disliked the IT team became an advocate after months of consistent conversations, accountability and rebuilding trust.
Brad also shared advice from a professor that has stayed relevant throughout his career: “Get out of the office and tell people you give a damn.”
We explored the importance of setting expectations, the courage to acknowledge mistakes and why saying “whoa” instead of immediately saying yes can create the breathing space needed to make better decisions.
What I also loved was Brad's willingness to become a beginner again, stepping into writing Spheres of Influence and his next chapter as a speaker. His perspective on continuous learning connected beautifully with the Bee Formless™ methodology, which he had taken the time to study before our conversation.
There was something refreshing about the wisdom Brad shared. As business becomes increasingly complex, the foundations of meaningful transformation still come back to how we treat people, how intentionally we build relationships and whether our actions create the trust needed to move forward.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What if the most important transformation isn't the technology we introduce, but the relationships we reshape?

In this Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Conversation, I connected with Jim Donnelly, Co-Founder and CEO of Humanaut Health, to explore longevity, preventative healthcare, entrepreneurship and living better for longer.
When I first met Jim, he told me he had the perfect life. Coming from someone who has built multiple businesses, experienced significant loss and survived a near-fatal accident, I was intrigued.
Jim built Restore Hyper Wellness to 260 US locations before recognising its next phase required a different kind of CEO. Losing his father to cancer and recovering from a serious accident also reshaped his thinking about healthcare.
Those experiences contributed to his vision for Humanaut Health, combining prevention, personalisation, diagnostics and health optimisation to challenge a system focused on treating illness.
We discussed root causes, the foundations of health and building a new healthcare model at scale. As Jim put it: “We don't chase money, we chase problems.”
What interested me was how Jim's approach to business connects with his philosophy of life. For him, success is measured through family, friendship, faith, meaningful work and joy, with money playing a smaller role.
After almost losing his life, people asked what he would change.. “I'm not gonna change a damn thing.”
That challenged how I think about success and the lives we're creating when so much of business and leadership focuses on the next milestone.
THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTION
What changes when we stop measuring success by how much we achieve or how long we live, and start asking how well we're living?
Through the Bee Formless™ methodology, this is how I saw the shift unfold:
LEARN: DIAGNOSE • UNDERSTAND • SUBTRACT • CHALLENGE
✨ Question the systems we've inherited. Jim challenges whether healthcare's structures and incentives give enough attention to prevention, personalisation and root causes.
✨ Understand what matters before deciding what to optimise. Across health, business and life, the starting point is knowing what we're trying to create.
UNLEARN: REIMAGINE • RESHAPE • CREATE
✨ Reimagine longevity around the quality of the years we're living, connecting health to energy, mobility, relationships and our capacity to participate fully in life.
✨ Recognise when leadership needs to change form. Jim stepped away from Restore knowing its next phase required different capabilities.
RELEARN: TEST • IMPLEMENT • EMBODY
✨ Start with simple habits before complex solutions. Jim's right-away wellness philosophy begins with changes to movement, sleep and nutrition, noticing what helps and building from there.
✨ Scale around meaningful problems. Humanaut Health's expansion reflects Jim's belief that widespread impact requires the right model and local understanding.
ACTIVE RECOVERY: INTEGRATE • RESTORE • EVOLVE
✨ Health extends beyond the physical. Jim's Saturday mornings with friends, combining exercise, conversation and connection, are part of how he creates wellbeing.
✨ A perfect life doesn't have to be easy. Jim's perspective has been shaped by hardship and success, and by knowing what matters enough that even a near-fatal accident didn't change what he valued.
