  • Season 2 Episode 5 with Mark Adderley
Today Alex and Lisa talk with Mark Adderley. We absolutely loved recording this episode, where we discussed AA, recovery, depression, anxiety and loads more.
Mark is a Film & Documentary maker by trade. He’s spent over 20 years making all manner of programmes for the likes of BBC1, BBC2, Nat Geo, Discovery, Channel 5. Back in 2004 he hit rock bottom after a trip to The Arctic - he had a major breakdown - hit a major rock bottom - and ended up in Rehab. After rehab he has tackled the highs and lows of sobriety for nearly 16 years (this October). He’s married to Nadia (a TV presenter) and has four children (two with Nadia, and two prior to Nadia). He has launched a number of social media platforms on which he discusses his sobriety and other mental health issues. He describes himself as incredibly SOCIABLE ... but not very SOCIAL. An introverted extrovert; he can often be seen behaving like an absolute moron on his You Tube channel The Sawalha Adderleys with wife Nadia - and he co-presents two podcasts How To Stay Married (So Far) and Confessions of a Modern Parent. You can find Mark on his YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC67b... and on Instagram at @mark_adderley

  • Season 2 Episode 4 with Louis Harrington
Today Alex and Lisa talk to Louis Harrington, founder of The Sharing Experience. Louis is an ex-professional golfer now-turned coach and mentor. In this episode we talk about how supporting his friend through a 90-day sober challenge, turned into his own sober journey and transformed his life.
Here’s what Louis has to say about himself:
Currently 35 years old and found my purpose and desire to share my experiences to try and inspire and help others. I spent over 10 Years as a PGA Golf professional and had dreams and aspirations to play the game at the highest levels, to which I never achieved. Having suffered with severe mental health difficulties throughout most of my adult life and taking antidepressants for most of my adult life also I had always wanted to know what was behind it all…. In December 2019 away on a typical alcohol fuelled golf holiday and severely hungover at the time, a good friend started to explain how he felt he had to seriously stop drinking and get his life in order…… ding!! This was a special moment in my own head….There and then I committed to a 90-day challenge myself through the OYNB team starting 1st Jan 2019… 90 days turned into 365-day challenge and here we are coming up 600 days sober!!
I could go on for a long time about the radical changes my life has taken but most importantly have been able to stop taking the anti-depressants for the first time in my life, started my own coaching/mentoring business, and improved every aspect of my life as the partner/father/friend/son and colleague from this one simple yet so almost impossible change!

  • Season 2 Episode 3 with Jesse Mogle
Today Alex and Lisa talk to Jesse Mogle, founder of From Sobriety to Recovery. Jesse just gets it and you are going to love him. He is an author, public speaker and coach, making a difference in the recovery world. Jesse also runs ‘Sober Sessions’, a group coaching service.
Here is what Jesse says: I am Jesse Colin Mogle and I am a recovering addict who spent over 20-years looking at life through the bottom of a bottle. What was once the solution, became the problem, and almost ruined my life.
On January 12th, 2017, I decided I was done with living my life beholden to intoxicants. The never-ending hangovers, the compulsion to drink when I knew it was destroying me, the isolation it led me to – because heaven forbid anyone see or hear me in a state of blacked-out. The following day I called Kaiser Permanente and entered their addiction treatment program.
That day was a beginning, an ending, and a continuation of my journey. My mind, body, and spirit all knew one day I would have to make a drastic change in my life if I was ever going to earn the life I had always desired.
The self-doubt, the shame, the guilt, the fear of too much time lost, every emotion you or I could think of and then a couple hundred more coarsed through my veins those first months. As I changed my habits and behaviors and adapted to my new reality I slowly became more clear headed, self-aware, open-hearted, and as ready as I could be for the future journey awaiting me.
I have taken the lessons from my entire life – the years helping my mother battle Crohn’s disease, the decades surviving alcoholism and drug addiction, and the last three+ years in addiction recovery and have turned that knowledge outward so I can be of service to others so desperately in need of a life-altering change.
In helping others identify and overcome the underlying architecture that is leading them into a life they do not want – I have discovered many secrets and keys to activating the mind, body, and spirit into immediate change mode – change CAN happen in an instant. It’s turning that change into a habit people tend to struggle with.
As a professional speaker, podcaster, and lifestyle architect (as well as being the nation’s #1 bee fan) – I am a recognized authority on the psychology of growth mindset, positive habit creation and the self-identity that comes from programming put in place when we were children. I have served as a friend, coach, consultant, and advisor to people around the world for over 20 years.
    My favourite mottos:
The Power of Positive Energy; Release & Flow
In a Universe of Infinite Possibilities – Why Can’t this be One.

  • Season 2 Episode 2 with Whysup
Today Alex and Lisa talk with two amazing individuals, Mark and Liam of Whysup.
Whysup was started by Mark and Liam. They have known each other for over 20 years, both attended the same secondary school and shared the same friends and common interests. Upon leaving school, they embarked on their own journeys in seemingly different directions.
However, despite developing successful careers and appearing to have a good home life, they had each been progressing though the illness of addiction.
The pair reconnected in recovery and offered mutual support, sharing their experiences and giving strength to each other.
They made a conscious decision to turn a difficult past into a positive outcome, using their experiences to benefit others. To turn the negatives of living through addiction and poor mental health into a positive message that would benefit others and create a change in culture, where discussions can be had and a proactive approach promoted.
Whysup has developed in a short space of time and offers a wide spectrum of services, covering many of the issues we face in today’s society.

Today, we speak with our friend and fellow Sober Sessions panellist, Sober Dave on our rollercoaster ride podcast. We laugh hysterically and there are real moments that pull on the heartstrings.

He is proud to be part of such an incredible online community and feels passionately that by speaking as honestly as he can about the highs and lows of sobriety it will hopefully encourage others who may be sober or sober curious to do the same.
