Maria
I am a functional health coach with a specialty in perimenopause and menopause. I graduated from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2013 and then studied in a hormone program for practitioners with Dr Sara Gottfried in 2014. I spent the first 8 months of 2015 completing the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Certification Program and, in 2017, completed the Menopause Method Program for Physicians with Dr David Rosensweet. I have been personally mentored by hormone scholar Dr Lindsey Berkson and naturopathic endocrinologist Dr Rebecca Provorse. When I am not working with clients, you will find me traveling, horseback riding, walking outdoors or cooking.
We are super excited to announce our newest team member, and we can't wait for you all to get to know her better!
My name is Paige S. Lynch, I am a triple board-certified functional medicine nurse practitioner and owner of Functional Health and Wellness, PLLC, a private functional medicine practice based in Fredericksburg, VA. I am also a mother and wife who has struggled to balance caring for others while still caring for myself.
I started my career in a high-stress environment as a firefighter/paramedic. As I advanced in my education and training, my own health crisis after the birth of my son opened my eyes to the physical effects of chronic stress and not caring for my body. Shortly after my son was born, I began to experience an expression of symptoms and illnesses that were not making sense to my conventionally-trained medical brain. Unable to get the medical support I needed from traditional conventional medicine, I began to research on my own.
Over time I discovered there was another way. I began a path of whole-body wellness that I would later come to realize was the formal process of Functional Medicine. I was immediately drawn to the holistic approach of using a person’s individual genetic makeup, combined with lifestyle to reverse chronic illness and prevent future problems. After my own health & wellness success utilizing functional medicine, I decided to become a Functional Medicine practitioner.
After completing my training with the Institute of Functional Medicine, I was able to create a practice that centers around the needs of the patient. Now I work with patients across the country creating individualized treatment plans based on each person's unique needs.

In this episode, we sit down to catch up with our long-time friend and mentor Mark Sisson. It has been 125 episodes since we last had Mark on the show so this was long overdue.
Mark has a new book out called Two Meals A Day that can be bought wherever books are sold.
Mark Sisson is the New York Times bestselling author of The Keto Reset Diet and founding father of the ancestral health movement. His blog, MarksDailyApple.com, and Primal Blueprint lifestyle program has paved the way for primal enthusiasts to challenge conventional wisdom's diet and exercise principles and take personal responsibility for their health and well-being. From its humble - and controversial - beginnings in 2006, Mark's Daily Apple has grown into one of the highest-ranked health information resources on the Internet, with some three million unique visitors each month. An entrepreneur presiding over a wide-ranging primal enterprise, his fledgling Primal Kitchen healthy condiment line was acquired by Kraft-Heinz in 2018. Mark, 66, has a BA in biology from Williams College and is a former world-class endurance athlete, with a 2:18 marathon and a fourth-place finish in the Hawaii Ironman World Triathlon Championships to his credit. Today, Mark directs his competitive energies into high-stakes Ultimate Frisbee tournaments against competitors decades younger on the battlefields of Miami Beach, FL.

Alan Christianson is a New York Times Bestselling Author and a Phoenix, Arizona-based Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD) who specializes in natural endocrinology with a focus on thyroid disorders. He is the author of the Adrenal Reset Diet, the Complete Idiot’s Guide to Thyroid Disease, The Metabolism Reset Diet, and The Thyroid Reset Diet.
Dr. Christianson was a member of the premier class of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) graduating in 1996. He has been actively practicing in Scottsdale ever since.
Dr. Christianson is the founding president of the SCNM alumni organization and continues to be an active board member. He is also the founding president and is currently the acting president of the Endocrine Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
As a child raised in rural Minnesota, Dr. Christianson was an avid reader. He loved spending time with his family’s encyclopedias and medical textbooks. His body, however, was a source of struggle. Cerebral palsy left him with seizures, poor coordination, and obesity.
A devastating comment made by a classmate in 7th grade gym class spurred him into action. He became determined to reset his health and his life. Over the next few weeks he devoured dozens of books on nutrition, fitness, and health and created his own recovery plan.
Dr. Christianson gave up sugar and developed an exercise routine that was easy enough for him to start on. He stuck with it and built on it. With no prior sports experience, he became a varsity football player and his classes’ best endurance runner by 9th grade. This experience taught him that being healthy transformed both how you feel and how others treat you. He also learned that the tickets to health were knowledge and persistence.
He frequently appears on national TV shows like Dr. Oz, CNN, The Doctors and The Today Show as well as print media like Women’s World, USA Today, Newsweek, and Shape Magazine. When he’s not maintaining a busy practice, his favorite hobbies include mountain unicycling, technical rock climbing, and watching the stars.
Dr. Christianson married his wife Kirin, after their mutual friend insisted the two needed to meet. It was love at first sight! They got engaged a month later, and married 8 months after that. They reside in Phoenix, Arizona and they have two children.
