Ep. 40 - Bulletproof Limousines Ft Dave Dogg Atkins
It’s an honour to be joined by veteran Brisbane musician and Resin Dogs drummer, Dave Atkins for the 40th instalment of Beers, Beats & The Biz.
This episode is an epic, from Dave’s early days discovering music to his time spent in The Valley’s live music scene and on to his success as a member and drummer for the Resin Dogs and Wolfmother.
We chart Dave’s early influences and bands, from his time at Cleveland High alongside Ben Ely through the formation of Pangaea, Regurgitator, Elevation, Happyland and many other seminal Brisbane bands.
This episode is packed with stories and history, from the musicians and various label deals to the venues, countries and bands Dave has toured and been involved in, the man’s influence has been pervasive through the Australian music scene.
We talk the breakup of Pangaea and the rise of the Resin Dogs, we talk meeting everyone from George Harrison’s son to Lars Ulrich in a London nightclub. We talk studios, touring the globe, engineers and arriving at digging spots in a bulletproof limo.
We are honoured by Dave’s presence and all his contributions to not only hip hop, but Australian music.
We are live now on iTunes, Soundcloud and Spotify: download, rate, subscribe, comment, share and thank you for tuning in to Beers, Beats & The Biz.
