Passionate speakers share their thoughts on The "Stop Adani convoy" with Bob Browne leading the charge all the way from Hobart! Coming into our region to voice their opinion on the Carmichael coal mine, and the locals aren't happy. Why was it on? Why were we there? 80% of the crowd put up their hands when asked if it was their first rally too? It was time to stand up for our region. The convoy drove past dirty brown coal mines and power stations in Vic and NSW to protest against the cleanest coal in the world!

After my free sausage MM interviewed Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson, Federal member for Dawson George Christensen and the MC for the event, RIN Director and rally virgin himself Mick Crowe. They all spoke of their pride in how many peeps came out to show support for our industry.

In the distance I could see red flags blowing as the stop Adani Convoy prepared to leave. Interesting time to be on the Peak Downs Highway! Will they get fuel? Many hoped not.

We lost yet another beloved miner recently which spurred me to share these thoughts with you. Firstly, I want to send love and angels to family, friends and work mates of all those involved.

News travels fast when a serious incident occurs at one of our mine sites. Someone close to me was immediately affected so I knew quickly. Wanting to learn more I went to social media. Local groups had not yet picked up on it, or perhaps-wisely-chosen not to share just yet?

I was tagged in a post on a tv channel's page that had chosen to share the as yet vague details. Initially incorrect news was spread. Many people were panicked and trying to find out the facts. Comment threads were horrifying me.

One lady shared how worried she was as her partner worked there and advice was pouring in. Yes, she had already contacted site to learn more, but they could not release anything. They were right in the middle of dealing with it all. Can you imagine? Workforce safety and communication, helicopters, police, ambulance, media and family members are all part of the initial responses with much more to follow.

Another told her if she was next of kin and had not heard anything, her partner was ok, and she should stop being so dramatic! This is when the memories of Big T's death onsite came back to me.

Will delves deep into his prospecting days. Metal detecting, dredging and of course a few stories about the wildlife encountered in the Qld outback searching for the golden nuggets every prospector is searching for. Tips and tricks passed down from his Uncle are shared, just for you. Part 2 of our chat with digger driver Will is a good laugh and his inquisitive mind provokes a convo about the strange pot on MM's veranda when he ducked out for a smoke. After I (MM) nearly stopped Podcasting a few times, getting to half a century is amazing! What to do for such a special occasion? On RuOk day I decided to pull a few snippets from past guests about how they deal with life when it gets a little tough. What is their happy place? Going back and listening to my awesome guests and their golden nuggets, especially about how they have been supported through their mining journey, has been a real treat for me.

My guests, and you, my listener have me even more inspired to get Mad Mumzie's message out there. To step out of my comfort zones, stay connected and continue to create new ways to help people like you learn more about living this mining lifestyle. Here's to the next 50 Years..um episodes!

FIFO life. How do people do it every time they go to work? Mad Mumzie is a DIDO gal, drive in, drive out. After a few flights to visit her sister Drewie aka Hard Hat Mentor in WA, words needed to be shared!

Starting off with an audio blog, followed by a convo with 2 sisters living the mining lifestyle who haven't seen each other for 2 years. It is an eye opener, different outlooks!

The Hard Hat Mentor's journey has evolved since her first 2 episodes, and new things are unfolding, hence my visit to WA. You will hear "forkin, and bull shirt.." that is from the show "The Good Place" on netflix which we watched over there and embraced totally! Celebrating 2 women, from all walks of life and from anywhere in the world, every single day for a year. Her widely acclaimed efforts saw her celebrate approximately 750 women, from more than 37 countries and led to her creating a social media movement…..and now a new upcoming book called Women Kind.

After being one of those 750 women involved in the #celebrating women campaign, it was lovely to catch up with Dr. Ferguson, and MM was excited to also get a scoop just for you!

Working in the mining and resources industry internationally means the good Dr has some great tips for us working in the industry.
