Anti bullying week sparked some old memories. What can we do if being bullied? Are you a bully or always stirring people up? It can affect them in a bad way, and you wouldn't even know perhaps. There is a lot of help out there for us miners and their families. MM loves seeing new organisations coming to site to share their stories and ideas to help us get through living this mining lifestyle. This podcast was a In the Australian Podcast Awards 2018 in Careers and Industry Category. MM chats about the event and thanks her peeps. https://www.madmumzie.com/beers46 https://mining.teachable.com/ https://australianpodcastawards.com/latest-news/finalists-announced https://timreid.com.au/ https://www.lifecycleurns.com/ https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/NationalDay https://www.ruok.org.au/findhelp http://matesinconstruction.org.au/mining/ http://www.bantacs.com.au/booklets/Miners_Booklet.pdf
Mad Mumzie chats with you about how bloody hot it has been and the effects on mine workers in the heat. This episode was inspired by social media.
MM noticed a few people getting stuck right into an article about a person who got heat stroke, "harden up!"
What does your site do to help manage extreme heat? As workers we need to make sure they are listening to us and help us hack it out here, summer after summer, fixing and operating their machines, blowing up the dirt and getting the production they so keenly desire, safely.

Pineapples, shiny nuts, koalas, seat covers, or "your flux capacitor is hanging down, call the workshop."
Listen in as Mad Bazz & Mad Mumzie cover the deep dark insides of our mining culture, language and crew interactions. Know what to expect if you're a newbie/trainee or have a laugh if you're an old hand at this game.
The first 30 minutes are a few "official" mining terms out of the book, then the fun begins.
Be warned, this episode may offend some people and is explicit in nature!
It's fun, light and goes long, but there is gold dripping off the donga ceiling over a few beers, after a long hot dusty day in the pit.
If you have any more to add to the list be sure to hit MM up and let her know.

This is the final episode for 2017. I put a call out on social media to ask me anything they want me to answer on the podcast.
Undergrounder…Harry: "How big are the trucks you drive?" -How do you tell a person that? MM stepped it out at the mess with a dinner plate in hand!
Johnno through Facebook: "What trucks and gear do you drive?" MM was surprised at how many she has operated over the years.
Driller Rick MM's No 1 twitter fan had a question of course, as did her daughter's mother in law and more.
Learn about Mad Mumzie, living a mining life driving the trucks, and a sporting fan's thoughts from down under.
To finish the year, listen in as MM reflects on how important it is to get away with good mates as she walks on a beach, under the supermoon after a couple of beers of break.

After having to do a "tuck and roll" drop off at the airport, Steve and Jo Emery's 3 kids were devastated. They didn't get to say a proper goodbye-not even a trip to Maccas helped!
That night Jo sat in bed with a glass of wine and wrote the "My Dad Is A FIFO Dad" book. Her daughter cried when she read it the next day. "That's about me and Dad."
But where does Dad go when he gets on the plane? This popular, well illustrated book and optional activity cards help many families across Australia and the world who experience separation because of FIFO/DIDO work. The aim of the story is to encourage an "I'm OK when Dad's away" mindset in children.
Listen in to find out if author Jo Emery and the kids ever took her husband Steve back to the airport! How do they cope with him being away for 3 weeks at a time, and how can we help any kids understand that the "away" parent still loves them, and will be coming home again soon.

Listening choices on mine sites. We spend a long time at work, personally I do 13 hour shifts on a 7/7 roster. The crew have been complaining about the radio station lately, and it got me thinking.... What's it like at your site? Do you get lots of radio stations, none, or 1 like us? Can you listen to usbs, your phone running on the aux plug, or nothing except the two way? Radio stations catering to mining towns need to acknowledge that not all of us are 9-5 like they make out and MM has a wee rant about this. Are you looking for a job in the mines? stay to the end, Mad Mumzie has been busy and this is the first time to share with you. If you are enjoying the podcast please share with your mates, subscribe and a review would be awesome!
