Behind The Timeline

Oh, man! I think just the run-time alone should tell you guys what Lindsay thought of this movie. But, true to our nature and our desire to please you all, we dove deep into just what made this such a popular 90's smash hit. Was it the animation? The music? The characters, themselves? We honestly couldn't tell you because... we couldn't figure it out, ourselves. True story. We're basically begging you all to tell us why we're wrong here and what makes this such an endearing classic through the ages! PS - this episode was NOT sponsored by Hot Topic despite the number of times we mention it.

Just kidding - this really was an episode dedicated entirely to Lindsay convincing Scott to watch an episode of "Sex and the City". We're not joking. That's... that's exactly what happened. But, also, HOCUS POCUS!! The Halloween box-office-bomb-turned-cult/family-classic has arrived on the timeline in some of the most stupendously perfect timing we've ever seen! Does the sequel hold up to the original? What makes the original so great, anyway? And why is everyone so obsessed with virgins in New Hampshire? We definitely tackled... well, most of these questions. Grab your candy-corn, hold on to your Roombas and have some salt on hand - we're goin' in!

The terror of every 6-year-old. The realization that there probably IS a velociraptor in your kitchen, waiting specifically for you to go get more Doritos. We all knew it - we just never admitted it out loud. Well... until today. Welcome to Lindsay's absolute, all-time favorite movie and our very first Turn-It-Up-To-12! A groundbreaking piece of cinematic mastery deserves only the highest of scores from our show, we know this. Stick around to find out what we thought were the most terrifying aspects, both as children and ... well, bigger children who can vote and like drive cars and stuff - this one was a lot of fun!

Okay, so we've been gone for a minute. And Lindsay's been on her own Incredible Journey, of sorts. Mainly through the airport - it's a long story, don't ask. But, we're finally back. And Scott's back with a spicy vengeance on all mankind as the show finally takes on its first official live-action animal movie: Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey! From hilarious ad-libs, to as much Behind-The-Scenes information as we could uncover, we bring you everything you've ever needed to know about the Harry, Ron, and Hermione of 1993... it'll make sense when you hear the episode. Robin Williams, you amazing man, you! Welcome back to the Timeline and all its wonders, my friend. With the final film of '92, we at last come to the crown jewel of the year: Aladdin. And his two wonderful sequels that we found ample opportunities to discuss wherever possible. Seriously. It was a lot. Don't judge - they're masterpieces. From how surprisingly complete and intelligent this movie was to how insurmountably superior the soundtrack is to Jafar and all of his malice in the palace, we've got you covered in a 2-hour sandy stroll through Agrabah and all its problems!

It's a longer episode, but damn do we cover quite a lot! Joined by special guest and Batman-expert (self-proclaimed - stay humble, friends!), Matt, we set our gothic sights on our first superhero sequel of the Timeline. With the arrival of Danny DeVito's infamous Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer's smoldering portrayal of Catwoman, we were in for quite the treat this time around. Was Lindsay spicy? You betcha! Did Scott gush over Christopher Walken the whole time? Absolutely. Did Matt drop some fantastic behind-the-scenes knowledge about the comics and the continuation of '89's story? Oh no doubt about it!

Additionally, we also dropped some fresh info on D23 Expo's releases (Mostly Marvel/MCU stuff) so be sure to look for that around the 1:45:00 minute mark!

Sorry we're a little late on this one - had a bit of a mixup at the Communications Tower! But, here it is - one of the rainforest movies ever made. We crack open the egg that is Ferngully, a movie bordering on the Mandela Effect with how often we mention it to friends and they have no clue what we're talking about. Come along as we break down all the color changes Crysta's display goes through, try to decide if this was or was not a true musical and expound upon one of the greatest animated villain designs and how underutilized his Final Form truly was!

It was an early recording, this time around. And with Lindsay benched due to illness, we saw fit to bring back an old favorite - Matt! While they did struggle to maintain cohesion to the episode's talking points at times, Scott and Matt hammered in the greatness of Dustin Hoffman's Captain Hook, the weirdness of where this movie's inspiration came from and even uncovered some unknown things about a few of the costars, from cameos to nightmarish tantrums and beyond!

Tale as old as time... line. Had to do it; sorry, everyone. But, we have truthfully been dropping hints about how badly we wanted to get to this movie for a very long time and, at last, it's here! Not a bad song in sight, nor any good use of French from either host, or our special guest, Amanda! Join the three as they tackle yet another Renaissance-era film that sees impeccable musical composition, our second Princess-check and ...even some questions about possible Time-dilation? That can't be right. Who wrote this?

Our first Western! It was... ... well you'll just have to listen. We somehow reminisced about the Walmart "rollback" commercials, discussed a multiversal version of the film where Don Bluth actually WAS involved, and even used a new adult word this episode. Hang on to your cowboy hats, this ones a wild ride through nostalgia-turned-mediocrity in full force. But, weirdly, we had a pretty good laugh throughout!
