For this episode I returned to the local front of New Jersey and my punk self is jumping for joy. I had Brian Gorsegner of Night Birds join this week. When I was growing up, and started dabbling in the bass guitar, Brian was someone I looked up to and admired for all that he did for the punk community. He has been touring for 20 years now in several different projects. He has been on the road with notable acts like the Descendents, the Ergs, and Joyce Manor. His current band, Night Birds, are signed with the label Fat Wreck Chords. He also runs a booking company called Wired. Give him a follow on IG (@briangorsegner).
I had the honor of sitting down with Michigan's rising emo punks, Dogleg. The full band sat down to chat about their full story. From Alex starting Dogleg as a solo act and being the loudest musician at coffee shop shows to the release of one of the best albums of 2020 in Melee. This episode is loaded with personal and band stories. Give Dogleg a follow on IG (doglegband) and on Twitter (@leg_dog).
This week's episode is getting released on the 5th anniversary of the band I had the opportunity to chat with! Ramona, a punk band out of Philly, formed in Seattle, WA on July 7 of 2015. It started with a Craigslist ad and resulted in a first get together that ended with the band getting massages. Since then they have been a tight knit group. Whether it's singing karaoke during long van rides or wearing matching outfits for a photo shoot -- it's pretty clear that Ramona formed a bond on that first day. I chatted with Abby & Shannon about their impressive album (Deals, Deals, Deals!) and circled back to some tour stories like the time they saw the Emoji movie together. Connect with them on all social media platforms by typing in Ramona music!
This week I had the opportunity to converse with John Russell from the band Gnawing out of Richmond, VA. Gnawing has a 90s rock sound similar to Dinosaur Jr. and The Lemonheads. It was another great discussion. John is originally from North Carolina and played In a few bands before he moved to Richmond and ultimately created Gnawing. We really went deep into influences on the music scene and American history in general. We talked about his love for the Charlotte Hornets and Star Wars. Plus, Shaky came out in the beginning of the year! Give Gnawing a follow on all social media platforms (@Gnawinggg).
Super pumped up to have the opportunity to chat with local legends, Latewaves. This was my first time having the entire band on the show and they turned out to be the coolest group of people. This episode was filled with epic stories and endless laughs. My personal favorite story was about the time they performed in a kitchen. Catch that story & so many others in this loaded episode!. Give Latewaves a follow on both Instagram & Twitter (@Latewaves).

Sonia Sturino of Weakened Friends joined Behind the Vinyl this week. I was fortunate enough to discover Weakened Friends a few years ago at the Asbury Brewery. They quickly became one of my favorite live acts. I make sure to never miss them when they come to New Jersey. On this episode we talked about the usual topics such as how Sonia got into music, how the band formed, moving to Portland, and the tour life. However, what made this episode so great were some of the deeper topics like anxiety, racism in America, privilege, and so much more. Give Weakened Friends a follow on all social media platforms and make sure to give them a listen!

This week we had another Chicago-based band join the show which continues to prove the rich music history of the city. Julia Steiner of Ratboys was my guest and she was an absolute blast to converse with. We talked about a wide-range of music topics like how she met bandmate Dave at Notre Dame, they started writing music in their dorm rooms, eventually moving in with Dave & Sean in Chicago & having more time to practice, hitting the road for DIY touring, and eventually getting their first headlining tour after the release of Printer's Devil. Give Ratboys a follow on IG & Twitter @Ratboysband.
