This week Marisa Dabice of Mannequin Pussy joined the podcast for an epic episode. Mannequin Pussy is a Philadelphia-based punk band that currently have three full-length albums (GP, Romantic, Patience). We discussed her love for tie-dye, being diagnosed with cancer as a teenager, dancing as a hobby growing up, learning how to play the guitar, the death of Amy Winehouse and how musicians have an impact on our lives, eventually joining forces with childhood friend, Thanasi, and forming Mannequin Pussy. This week Christian Sparacio joined the show for a super fun episode. Sparacio is a former college football player who shifted to full-time musician after graduating from Colby College. We discussed working at a brewery, favorite rom-coms, balancing football and music, performing at Carnegie Hall in high school, making the decision to do music full-time, recording Baby Blue during Quarantine, and his song Silent Places beginning to blow up after a flash artist used it in his video. Visit Christian's Instagram @sparaciomusic or his website sparaciomusic.com. Also, give us a follow on IG @behindthevinylpod
This was honestly a dream episode for me. Sincere Engineer has been one of my favorite bands since they released Rhombithian back in 2017. Deanna Belos, who created the group, and makes all of the music, joined me to talk about Nickelodeon, not attending dental school and starting a band instead, the Chicago scene and the influence that bands like Lawrence Arms and Alkaline Trio had on her, receiving the opportunity to join Red Scare Industries, creating a word that eventually became her first albums name (look out for it in the dictionary soon lol), balancing working a full-time job with being in a band, the meaning behind her songs, and so much more! Make sure to give Sincere Engineer a follow on Twitter and IG @sincereengineer and also visit their website sincereengineer.com. Check us out on IG as well @behindthevinylpod
The journey continues with episode two! This week had no limits when I spoke with Austin Cooper of Arizona's indie pop punk band, No Lungs. We discussed favorite candy, foods of Arizona, Nirvana, Austin having to re-record the first two albums, No Lungs' first tour, and so much more! Be sure to follow No Lungs on IG @nolungsaz and our page as well @behindthevinylpod. As usual, would love to hear feedback!
