  • Let’s Talk Failure!

Today our topic is failure, mistakes, or learning experiences that either propel us forward or hold us back.

If you had a hard time growing up in trauma or tough circumstances, this one is for you! I talk about my failures and lessons learned, some of the negative thinking I experienced young, and how I got help to move through it.

I mention Pinkson Book again Shamanic Wisdom of the Huichol.  (I don't know what this means...)

And here are some lovely quotes that helped me through the years:

"There really is no failures once you’ve been playing for a certain amount of time. Everything turns into lessons." Jazman Jackson, soft ball player

"Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful." Joshua Marine

"It’s really not failure unless you stop trying." T.S. Elliot

"Learn to be thankful for what you already have, while you pursue what excites you." Jim Rohn

"If you are motivated enough to put the work in, you can achieve anything in life you set your mind to." Magic Johnson

"When you feel like throwing in the towel, ask yourself 'Am I where I want to be yet?' If the answer is no, then keep pushing forward." Camile Brown Weightlifter

  • How we grow up can be a rite of Passage.

I’m so excited have you all listen to this conversation discussing our first right of passage amongst two friends, a childhood friend Lina and a member of my fitness family, Mishele. Our last episodes describes rites of passage in more detail.

In this episode WE Speak about the challenge and skills we developed in finding our own path! You’ll hear about our upbringing and how WE honed into our resilience, self saficiancy and courage! By leaving home, getting an education, and healing trauma were able to change the trajectory of our lives. Across races and enthicities we found commonalities.

Lina taking kids through the educational pipeline and Mishele ability to use her a voice! Growing in small rural towns in the 90s, it wasn’t always considered an advantage to be different. I’m proud of my culture, the ability to speak both English and Spanish, and to be in fitness!

You may not want to listen with kids.
