Message- The faithfulness of Moses Hebrews 3 vs 7-19----1. Many are still enamored by Moses that they will not want to let him go and rest in peace. TO keep holding to Moses is contrary to God's design and purpose.----2. Moses represents the purpose or function of the Law with respect to salvation.----3. Moses was a servant in God's house, but His ministry was not to bring salvation by the sinner's obedience, but to condemn them. Salvation as a promise and inheritance could not come by one who is ONLY a servant in God's house, of which the Law was.----4. Moses was God's secretary to account for sin and file it in a big sin closet.----5. Moses was faithful in God's house as a minister to bring death-the letter that kills.----6. Moses was faithful to increase the transgression-the Law was given to increase sin-because sin takes opportunity of the commandment to produce death.----7. Moses was retired after he finished his work. Christ is the One to whom Moses was pointing us towards as Moses laid his hands on Joshua and pointed the children of Israel to him.----8. The gospel is that the Son-Christ Jesus is alone the cause of our inheritance. Please do not rehire Moses if you would want to see the shores of heaven. That and more-

1- Christ worthy of more glory than Moses, -2- Grace more honor than Law-because Grace is Christ working and building -3- Mt Calvary has more honor than Mt Sinai, -4- Christ a better builder than Moses, -5- Christ is the Son who has all the inheritance and has built His own house, the Church, because He is God. -6- Moses is only a Servant in God's house. And as a servant he could not bring an inheritance. As a Servant he occupied a subservient role to the Son. As a servant he had a time to be honorably retired. -7- But many will not want to retire Moses-the Law because they do not understand God's argument for both Moses and Christ. -8- Moses is not a concrete mixer for Christ. Christ said-He will build His own church on this ROCK-On Himself as the Cornerstone. Wonderful gospel message.

1- Many professing Christians and preachers do not know what the matter of the gospel is.--2- The gospel is good news because of an accomplished work of Christ.--3- That accomplished work God has written as a decree to be published or heralded.--4- The publishing of the decree that emancipates God's people from the decree of sin and death is not conditioned on the sinner, but on Christ the mediator and High Priest.--5- The Jews of Mordechai and Esther were set free from the decree that destroys only because of their representatives. They did not do anything to help in their salvation.--6- Mordechai wrote the decree that set His people free and tasked the couriers to publish it in all of the kingdom.--7- The couriers are the faithful gospel preachers. They do not add conditions to what has been written about the matter of salvation. They only declare the matter of the decree that has been given in Christ-that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. --8- That and more-

1. God became flesh for many reasons, but those reasons all pertain to things of God, for the propitiation of sins of the people.--2. Christ suffered and that means, He died to propitiate for the sins of the people. He made complete satisfaction for them.--3. He alone was uniquely qualified to make payment of sins-because as sinners we do not have the means to ransom ourselves out of sin, death and condemnation.--4. The gospel question is-what shall a man give in exchange for their soul- There is a transaction to be had if salvation has to happen. What is that transaction that God has sanctioned for salvation---5. Christ Jesus, the High Priest partook flesh and blood-just like the children He came to redeem, but without sin that He may be qualified to represent His people in all things salvation. --6. By taking human flesh He entered into the human experience-being tempted in all things just like us-but without sin. Therefore He is able to come to the aid of those who are being tempted.--7. This is a glorious gospel message-if you have time to spare for wonderful things about Christ.

1- The matter of the law and gospel is still foreign to the minds and hearts of many professing Christians. --2- Many preachers and professing Christians have absolutized the Law and, in the process, missed the argument of both the Law and the gospel.--3- The text of Matt 19 about divorce is largely understood as a prescription to deal with human marriages and has been used by many to bind people.--4- For instance, there are churches who do not allow divorced people or those who divorced and re-married to participate in the Lord's Table -COMMUNION-.--5- This is a failure to understand the gospel and the text of Matt 19. --6- Jesus did not come to deal with human marriages. God had already spoken to that institution in the Law. Jesus came to accomplish salvation. And if we read these texts with that understanding we will draw only bondage and legalism.--7- Do not despise the vessel, but if the Lord will nudge you please attend to this teaching. And I will say what the Lord said, -Matthew 19-11 -NASB- -11 -Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.- IT has to be given you by the Lord to understand this text and the gospel contained in it.--8- But many who do not understand the gospel and Law argument resolve to calling names and say-Antinomian. That is a cop out. The Law had its function and time-but it was retired for a better marriage to Christ. That and more-

1- We have to understand the issues surrounding the gospel and why it is called the gospel.--2- A decree of death and condemnation came on God's people because of Haman and the people of the Jews were powerless to reverse it.--3- But there was Esther who was already in the presence of the king making intercession for her people. Making intercession as their mediator to have the decree that condemns canceled.--4- Esther was eminently qualified to be mediator to her people. She was related to her people before the decree that condemns came and used her position to have it reversed.--5- But it was not reversed anyhow. It was reversed through the banquet of wine where by Haman was hung on the gallows that he had made for Mordechai. --6- Mordechai now had the signet ring of the king. But Esther asked that the decree that reversed death and condemnation not just be spoken, but written down.--7- The king then said-write down whatever you want in the name of the king, seal it with the king's signet ring because anything that is written in the name of the king cannot be revoked.--8- Salvation by grace has been written in the name of the King, God Himself, therefore it cannot be reversed because God is unchangeable. Salvation cannot be lost. That and more-

1. The gospel of Christ is soteriological-which means it is about salvation. Christ cannot be spoken of outside His accomplished work of salvation.--2. The gospel of Christ is Christological-which means it is about the honor and dignity of Christ Jesus as the Son of God whom God desired to honor. Salvation therefore cannot occur outside the work of the Son and cannot diminish the glory of the Son in any way.--3. The gospel of Christ is eschatological-which means salvation itself is an eschatological promise of God. The appearance of Christ in His incarnation was the appearance of the end times. Eschatology respects the last things-the last things of judgment and salvation. --4. God Himself made His final speech-eschatological speech in the eschatological Son who brought eschatological salvation as the eschatological Lamb.--5. Eschatology is about things that remain. Only Christ remains as the Son. And as the Son He brings things that remain-things that are unshakeable.--6. Only things purchased by the blood of Christ remain-His righteousness and eternal life.--7. The Holy Spirit was an eschatological promise of the Father to His people-but to be given only in the wake of the sacrifice of the Son. That and more-

1. The salvation that is in Christ is a great salvation-2. IT is great because of His dignity, honor and perfection-3. He is better than the angels, has all power and authority-4. He by His own death He purged our sins and bridged the great chasm of separation that was between us and God. Your sin and guilt before God was great and it took one who is great to accomplish a great salvation for you.-5. There is no other salvation to be had anywhere-therefore we must pay heed to the things that we have heard about the matter of salvation.-6. We should not neglect salvation-because that is to set our priorities wrong. There are consequences to neglecting salvation-the knowledge and truth of Christ.-7. You will drift away-from the safe harbor that is Christ. The solution to not drift away back into sea of falsehood is to remain anchored in that which is solid and immovable-God's free and sovereign grace.-8. Drifting away is the natural result of not caring for the things of Christ. And one does not put effort to drift away. One only needs to look away and the sinking begins. -9. The elect do not neglect salvation as to be lost. God will keep them-but He may chastise them to that end.

1- The beauty and security of salvation cannot be understood outside the dignity of the person of Christ.----2- To bring a compromised view of His person-and that means-a low Christology-a low view of Christ is an attack on His work of salvation.----3- Christ is the Son of God who is seated on the throne because He is God, seated because He is worthy of all honor, seated because He finished His work of salvation, seated because He is superior to all-even the angels.----4- The superiority of Christ is what alone guarantees salvation.----5- He who upholds all things by the word of His power can not fail to uphold the salvation that He accomplished for His people.----6- God has commanded angels to worship the Son. The God who does not share His glory with anyone apparently shares glory with the Son. And that means the Son is God-was not created.----7- Christ is not an exalted angel. He is not an angel-He is above all creation. He created all things for Himself-including the angels.----8- So, salvation is only possible because of who the Son is. The elect are what they are before God because of who Christ is and the name that He possess-that is above all names. That and more-
