Die Auftaktveranstaltung zu dem neuen Jahresthema fand auf der transmediale statt und hieß "Diving into the Snowden Archives". Die Audio-Reportage lässt die Akteure zu Wort kommen und stellt die wichtigsten Snowden-Archiv-Projekte vor.

EN / After “Un|Commons” (2015), the Berliner Gazette continues its work on the commons in 2016 under the title “Tacit Futures.” We kicked off this annual project at transmediale with the lecture and workshop program “Diving into the Snowden Archives.” This audio file is a complete recording of the panel discussion “Building Snowden Archives,” where John Young (Cryptome.org) stated: “You have to see what you in Berlin can do about the surveillance state. Because we in the United States are trapped.” Other speakers included Andrew Clement (The Snowden Digital Surveillance Archive), Evan Light (Snowden Archive-in-a-Box), MC McGrath (The Snowden Document Search / Transparency Toolkit), Deborah Natsios (Cryptome.org). Moderator: Krystian Woznicki (berlinergazette.de). Introduction: Kristoffer Gansing (transmediale). Diese Audiodatei ist eine vollständige Aufzeichnung der Podiumsdiskussion "Building Snowden Archives", in der John Young (Cryptome.org) sagte: "Man muss sehen, was man in Berlin gegen den Überwachungsstaat tun kann. Harsha Walia is a social justice activist who is best known for co-founding the Vancouver chapter of No One Is Illegal and for authoring the book “Undoing Border Imperialism” (2013), which has been called “the first extended work on immigration that refuses to make First Nations sovereignty invisible.”

Michel Bauwens is a theorist in the emerging field of peer to peer theory and director and founder of the P2P Foundation, a global organization of researchers working on peer production, governance, and property.

The workshop "Bottom-up & Open" took place in Berlin between May 4th-6th and was dedicated to the collaboration of programmers and (citizen-)journalists providing a context in which to work on concrete problems and projects, concluding with a public panel discussion at re:campaign/re:publica on the question: What can campaigns learn from citizen-journalism? Above the audio recording, here a warm up video-interview and here some photographs from all sessions.
