Long before he led the Cubs to the World Series championship in 2016 and became a celebrity figure in Chicago, Joe Maddon got his start in coaching in the minor leagues. His first managerial job came in leading the Idaho Falls Angels in the Pioneer League in 1981 as part of the Angels' organization, and he later managed in Salem, Oregon as well as Peoria, Illinois and Midland, Texas. Maddon took a moment to reflect on those experiences with 670 reporter David Schuster, explaining that those experiences shaped him into the manager he is today.
