Gunsmoke - "The Juniper Tree"

Jim Stanley is a quiet and honest man who owns a ranch just outside of Dodge City. One night, while he is playing roulette at the Cherokee Palace, trouble breaks out.

As the story opens, Matt arrives to arrest Stanley and we learn he had been drinking, became upset over losing, grabbed some poker chips off a table and threw a whiskey bottle at Mingo, the saloon owner.

As the Matt investigates, however, it becomes unclear if Jim Stanley is the real culprit. Do the accusations made by Mingo truly hold up?

There appear to be many conflicting motives -- and it is up to the marshal to sort them out.

The Line Up - "Hit and Run Driver"

A woman is brutally run down by a hit and run driver. The car then backs up and intentionally runs her over a second time.

There are two eyewitnesses: Mrs Atwater and Mr. Brooks. Mrs. Atwater says the driver was Melvin Parnell, who she picked out of the line up. Parnell is tall, lean and bald.

Mr. Brooks says the driver was not Parnell, that the driver was fat and had lots of blonde hair.

Lt Guthrie decides neither witness actually got a good look at the driver. The case will have to be solved the old fashioned way -- with good, sold detective work.

Randy is robbed of his wallet at gunpoint by a very nervous old man.

Later the same evening his wallet is returned by the thief's wife. The old woman, Mrs. Benson, explains that her husband is a retired mathematics professor who robbed Randy to get gambling money; he claims to have developed a system that will guaranty he wins at roulette.

Realizing the danger the professor may be in, Randy tracks him to an illegal gambling club where they find the old man who has already been gambling at the roulette wheel for some time.

It then becomes Randy's job to convince him he is literally playing a game of life and death.

Despite George's instructions, Gracie and Blanche secretly go to the actor's home to interview him about his early life and career in a very funny sequence.

Later, when Reagan stops in at the Burns household, he and Bill Goodwin get into a contest over which of them has the best line to meet women -- and they test them out on Gracie!

Frontier Gentleman - "The Cat Man"

Before Kendall leaves Cheyenne he decides to take one last tour around town. Upon entering Dan's Bloody Bucket Saloon, he meets one Chain Carrigan -- a small Irishman wearing a derby hat who is known as the "cat man."

It is Chain's intention to travel to Deadwood and sell his collection of 62 cats in order to rid the town of rats.

Kendall decides to ride along with Carrigan and along the way discovers the Irishman is a bit of a con man -- resulting in a series of adventures as they travel to Deadwood on a wagon loaded down with crates of cats.

A watch salesman from Seattle attending a jewelry convention in Los Angeles shows up at police headquarters to report a robbery. He detectives Joe Friday and Frank Smith that his collection of expensive sample watches was stolen at gunpoint by two men posing as buyers.

When Friday and Smith start working the case, however, they find the salesman's story doesn't hold up. Did he steal the watches himself? Was he working an insurance fraud with his employer?

Or was he actually the victim of a pretty girl he met in a bar the night before?
