You Might Know Her From tick, tick... BOOM!, City on Fire, The Comedian, BrainDead, Song Sung Blue, and theatrical productions of Starstuck, Sister Act, Dolly the Musical, Angels in America, and Fun Home. We talked to Beth about Starstruck, the queer Cyrano de Bergerac inspired musical she co-wrote with music by the Indigo Girls' Emily Saliers; portraying Dolly Parton's gay best friend (with a striking mullet) in the Dolly Parton musical; and originating the role of Sister Mary Robert in the Sister Act musical before it got to Broadway. We also talked about her iconic role as Alison Bechdel in Fun Home, how she recreated Adult Alison's look for tick, tick... BOOM!, and her deep love for Kristy McNichol. We love gay people. Shout out to UC Denver and Stephanie Kornick for hosting us for this special recording. And happy Pride to all you, lovers.
