There are few guarantees in life. Happiness, health, wealth, success, love-- none of these good fortunes are guaranteed.  An anonymous quote reads, “Life is a journey with no guarantee's, all you can do is hold on for the ride and pray you make it through the rough spots!” The Christian however does enjoy certain guarantees. Among them is God’s help in the time of need.

The reformers often made a distinction when talking about good works in the Christian's life - the axiom when something like this, "Justification is by faith alone, but not a faith that is alone." Simply put, if our faith is not accompanied by a lifestyle that proves its presence in our hearts, than there wasn't a faith there to begin with. Consequently, as disciples of Jesus, our lifestyles should resemble that of Him.

Throughout Ephesians Paul has been describing the primary characteristics of the church and of the believers therein, namely, love. The people of God are to be marked by a culture of sacrificial love that reflects the image and character of the Christ who has c=ome to save them.
