  • I Prayed The Prayer, Part 1
I Prayed the Prayer, Part 1
    February 5, 2023 Elwyn & ReGina Johnston
    Acts 2:21
Verse of the Week: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
    1. What Salvation is not
“Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is
corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your
thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like
God – truly righteous and holy." Ephesians 4:22 - 24
“But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the
Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory”
    2 Corinthians 3:18
“ Now someone may argue, ‘Some people have faith; others have
good deeds.’ But I say, ‘How can you show me your faith if you don’t
have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”’
    James 2:18
    2. What Salvation is
“believe in your heart” Romans 10:9
“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves” 1 John 1:8
“with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with
the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:10
“if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a
vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every
    good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21
    3. Can I lose my salvation?
    Salvation = Relationship
“no one will snatch them out of My hand….no one is able to snatch
them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:28 & 29
“the Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will depart from
the faith; they will follow deceptive spirits” 1 Timothy 4:1
“God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family”
    Ephesians 1:5
    4. How to keep my salvation fresh:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added
    unto you.” Matthew 6:33
“Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your
    spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1
“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

“Bondservants must…do their best to please their masters.” Titus 2:9

“Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” Mt. 20:22
“They feared the LORD, yet they were serving their own gods” 2 Kings 17:33
    3. Servants focus on what Jesus gave, not what they give.
