As we near the end of John's Gospel, we will shortly see Jesus on trial, but unless we find ourselves in the trial and approach the decision made to crucify Jesus as a personal decision, then we are missing the cross altogether. All of us have a decision to make when it comes to Jesus. What will you choose?

As we continue walking through the Gospel of John, we arrive at a point in the narrative where Jesus has been arrested and will soon go to the cross. in this latter half of John 18, Pastor Matt explores the contrast between Jesus and Peter.

Pastor Matt continues walking us through the book of John! In Gethsemane, Jesus asked his disciples to wait while he prayed, taking Peter, James, and John with him for support. Expressing deep distress, he asked them to stay awake with him. In prayer, Jesus pleaded with God to let the coming suffering pass if possible, yet submitted to God’s will. He prayed this three times but found the disciples asleep each time. Finally, he told them to get up, for his betrayer was near. In John’s Gospel, there is no mention of Jesus agonizing in the garden before his arrest.
