As we head into the weekend, the NHL schedule continues to provide hard-hitting action and matchups between outstanding teams across the league. The Penguins and Capitals meet on Friday night, striking up the old rivalry that started when Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin were drafted one and two way back when. You can always expect a physical game when these two teams hit the ice. The Panthers face the Coyotes, and that is only interesting because of the news that the Coyotes may be locked out of their home arena due to unpaid taxes. The Predators and Devils is another Friday night game that pits two solid teams against each other.

Saturday’s schedule is packed, with the Hurricanes and Oilers, and Bruins vs. Flames highlighting the schedule. The Hurricanes' second stop on their five-game Canadian road trip is in Edmonton against the high-flying Oilers. The Hurricanes are one of the few teams in the league that are able to skate right with McDavid, Draisaitl, and company. It is sure to be a great weekend of hockey in the NHL.

The NHL schedule heats up on Thursday, December 9th, with 20 teams in action across the league. Access the latest NHL odds, and look at hockey predictions as we break down the teams looking to make the NHL playoffs and the best NHL futures that go with them.

The Calgary Flames sit atop the Central Division, and are in second overall in the Western Division, and they will host the Carolina Hurricanes, who have the same amount of points as them, but sit in third in the Metro Division because the top three teams are all the best in hockey. It will be the Canes second of a five game Canadian road trip. The second and third best teams in the Atlantic Division will meet as well on Thursday, when the Lightning and Maple Leafs face off. The Lightning have won four straight, and both teams are 7-2-1 in their last ten games.

The Islanders won their first game since November 6th on Tuesday night, and it appears that they are finally getting healthy, and trying to dig out of the massive hole they dug themselves so far this season. They will go for two in a row on Thursday when they play the Predators at USB Arena. The Bruins take on the Oilers, the Ducks meet the Blue Jackets, and the Stars are in LA to take on the Kings in other notable NHL games on Thursday night.

The Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild will go head-to-head on Tuesday night, between two of the top three teams in the Western Conference. The Wild have won six games in a row, and have a very comfortable 7-point lead over the Jets in the Central Division standings. The Oilers have lost two in a row, but still sit second in the Pacific Division with 32 points and only three behind the first place Flames. Leon Draisaitl leads the league with 21-goals, and 43 points, and Connor McDavid leads the league in assists. McDavid is also second in points behind his teammate, and fourth in goals. 

The Panthers take on the Blues, and the Hurricanes face the Jets, in two cross conference showdowns between top teams in their respective conference. The Islanders look to win their first game since Nov. 7th, when they face the Senators. They have lost 11 in a row, but they do have three points in their last three games, with three straight overtime losses. A lot of interesting action is upcoming on Tuesday night.

The NHL rolls into the weekend, and the guys have all of the best coverage for the games on Friday, December 3rd, and Saturday, December 4th. Access the latest NHL odds, and look at hockey predictions as we break down the teams looking to make the NHL playoffs and the best NHL futures that go with them.

Five games are on tap for Friday night, and the Flames and Ducks highlight the games. The Flames hold a two-point lead over the Ducks and are only one point back of Pacific Division-leading Edmonton. The Ducks haven’t necessarily gone on a slide, but they are just 6-4-0 in their last ten games. They are still in good shape, but John Gibson and crew would really benefit from a win against the Flames on Friday.

Saturday is packed with some fantastic games, including a matchup between the Central Division-leading Minnesota Wild, and the Atlantic Division-leading Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have won five in a row, and the Wild have won four in a row. Toronto is at the top of the entire league with 35 points and is clicking on all cylinders. Other games of interest on Saturday include Blues vs. Panthers, Sabres vs. Hurricanes, Blue Jackets vs. Capitals, and Lightning vs. Bruins.

They are second in the Central Division, four points behind the Wild at the top of the division. The Lightning have continued their climb back to the top of the Eastern Conference, getting points in eight of their last 10, including 6 wins.

The New York Islanders are scheduled to get back on the ice on Thursday, after the NHL canceled their games on Sunday and Tuesday because of Covid issues. They have lost eight in a row, due in large part to those Covid issues. They will take on a Sharks game that has won two in a row, and are on an East Coast swing.

As the rest of us try and get back into the swing of things after the Thanksgiving break, the NHL has been in full swing since Friday. The action continues on Tuesday with 8 games on tap. The Washington Capitals went on the road on Sunday and took down the Hurricanes to take over first place in the Metropolitan Division. They now get the chance to take down the second best team in the NHL, the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. It is another road game for the Caps, but they will be more than ready for their second game in three days against the best teams in all of hockey.

Tuesday night also brings us the Ducks and Kings, two Pacific Division teams fighting for position in the crowded top of the division. The Sharks hit a slide a while back, but are still hanging in there. The Kings have also been playing .500 hockey, and the two teams are tied in the standings with 21 points each, three points behind Vegas for fourth, and four behind Anaheim for third. The Lightning take on the Blues on Tuesday also, as well as the Blue Jackets vs. Predators, and others. So lock in and get everything you need for the Tuesday slate of NHL games.

There are quite a few high profile games on Wednesday, but we will give you a taste of what’s on the menu. The Flyers have looked very solid lately, and they will go up against another top team in the Eastern conference when they take on the Panthers. The Panthers have been one of the top three teams in the NHL since the season began. 

The Jets and Blue Jackets, as well as the Wild and Devils are two more early games that provide plenty of intrigue. The Jets and Wild are in a tight battle for first place in the Central Division, and the Blue Jackets and Devils are trying to keep pace in the Metro. The Ducks and Avalanche will meet in a battle between two of the hottest and top teams out West. The Maple Leafs head to LA to take on the Kings, who are a very fast and efficient hockey team. Get ready for Thanksgiving by relaxing by the fire and watching some NHL hockey on Wednesday.

The Carolina Hurricanes have won their first three games of a six-game road trip, and the Washington Capitals have points in their first three games of a five-game road trip, winning two and losing in overtime in the other. These two teams are atop the Metropolitan Division standings, as well as the NHL standings. The Hurricanes are 14-2, and the Capitals were 11-2-5 entering Sunday’s game against the Kraken. The Hurricanes will look to go 4-0-0 on their West Coast swing on Monday when they take on the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks were shutout 4-0 by the Capitals on Saturday night.

The Avalanche have won four in a row entering Monday, and they hope to make it five when they take on the Senators. In their last game, the Avalanche bombarded the Kraken with 7-goals in a 7-3 win on Friday night. Andre Burakovsky and Cale Makar had two goals apiece for the Avs. Other games on the NHL schedule for Monday include the Blue Jackets vs. Sabres, Golden Knights vs. Blues, Ducks vs. Predators, and Penguins vs. Jets.

The weekend is upon us once again, and the NHL schedule for Friday and Saturday gives us plenty of games to sink our teeth into leading into Thanksgiving week. Friday is light with the surging Winnipeg Jets facing the Vancouver Canucks, and the Colorado Avalanche taking on the Seattle Kraken. The Avalanche are still trying to find their groove this season, sitting at 6-5-1 entering Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Division has become the best division in all of the NHL, with six of the eight members above .500. Until the Penguins and Islanders went on their recent slide, the entire division was .500 last week. The top two teams, the Caps and Canes are on West Coast swings, with both 1-0 on the trip so far. On Saturday, the Canes take on the Kings, and the Caps are at the Shark Tank against San Jose. Other big games Saturday include the Devils at Lightning, Wild at Panthers, and Bruins at Flyers. The Wild have been rolling as of late, and the Panthers have yet to cool off from their strong start to the season.

The Thursday NHL gives us several great games that feature teams that are rolling and at the top of the NHL standings. The Rangers head North of the border to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in a battle between two Original 6 teams. Both teams are in the top three of their divisions in the Eastern Conference and both were riding three game-winning streaks heading into Tuesday. Auston Matthews and John Tavares will try to defend home ice against Adam Fox and Artemi Panerin.

Other games on the Thursday schedule include the Lightning vs. Flyers, Jets vs. Oilers in their second game against each other in three days, Stars vs. Wild, and Hurricanes vs. Ducks. The Ducks have been the hottest team in the NHL in recent weeks, winners of seven straight as of Tuesday, and Troy Terry has a 14-game point streak to go along with 11 goals. John Gibson is finally getting some national notoriety as an elite goaltender, which has been overshadowed in recent years because of the abysmal play by the rest of the team.
