It's just Caitlin on the mic today, and she gives a little state of the union on the state of sex ed in the U.S. We talk about little joys, sexuality news, and some not-great numbers when it comes to sex ed in schools. Caitlin also answers some listener questions on how to have a career in sex education and sex educators to follow on Instagram.

IT’S BOOK CLUB DAY! Caitlin discusses The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth with Alex and Sam from The Bookstagays podcast! We chat about how The Bookstagays came to be, Alex and Sam’s favorite queer books, what we want to see more of in the LGBTQ+ literary world...the gay screaming is real.
Then we launch into discussing Cameron Post, which broke our hearts a little in the best way. It’s a coming of age story set in rural Montana in the 90’s, and there’s lots of first love, heartbreak, and finding yourself.
*Content warning for discussions of homophobia, conversion camps, and unaccepting family members.*

The BookstaGays (@thebookstagays) was created solely on a whim after Sam and Alex wanted a space to talk about queer books and talk to other queer bookstagrammers. It’s a space dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community where most of our conversations revolve around the importance of representation, intermittent dog barking, squealing with our queer friends, and yelling about all of our gay crushes and theories. We like books, we’re gay, so we put those things together to make a podcast every week!

Kristen is one of the co-leaders of Bad Romance Book Club, one of the many amazing book clubs hosted by indie bookstore Old Town Books in Alexandria, VA.
In this episode Caitlin is joined by the wonderful @kristenlcoates to discuss all things romance genre, sexuality, and sexy times! Kristen is a brilliant mind, an avid romance reader, and one of the fearless leaders of the Bad Romance Book Club hosted by Old Town Books in Alexandria VA. Caitlin and Kristen talk about their first romance novels (both by the queen Sarah MacLean, of course), gush about BRBC as the best space for thoughtful conversations about romance and sex jokes, as well as wax poetic about the importance of romance as a genre that is pushing the boundaries of patriarchy. Kristen also gets into the difficulties in obtaining print romances for book club and the limitations of the romance publishing industry (it's way too white, y'all).
