• ROH running Supercard of Honor at the Hammerstein Ballroom, featuring Jay Briscoe winning the ROH Title for the first time from Kevin Steen.
• Wrestlecon’s indie lineup featuring CZW, CHIKARA, SHIMMER, EVOLVE, and Dragongate USA, complete with loads of future stars.

• Sabu shooting his own angle before a Jushin Thunder Liger vs. John Morrison match on the Friday night PWS show.
• “Hulk Hogan and Friends” tanking at the Beacon Theatre .
• A terrible episode of TNA Impact featuring Aces and 8s, some horrifying Joey Ryan segments, and all sorts of other awfulness.

• Raw and Smackdown’s go-home shows for WrestleMania.
• Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger being a few years ahead of their time…in a manner of speaking.
• Cody Rhodes, Damian Sandow, and the Bella Twins shooting an angle for their match at Mania mocking Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls…which would get canceled due to The Undertaker vs. CM Punk running long.
• WrestleMania 29 itself, featuring John Cena beating The Rock for the WWE Championship, a numbingly LONG Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar match, The Undertaker vs. CM Punk (including why Punk should've been the one to break the streak), and much more.
• WWE Fan Axxess at the Izod Center and the WWE Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden, featuring Trish Stratus announcing her pregnancy, Bruno Sammartino making his grand return, Donald Trump being booed out of the building, and much more.

This was a slam packed show, so we hope you enjoy it!!!!

Kris and David ARE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! with the main show, and we are making up for lost time with our Patreon picks, so this week we are discussing the (almost)-week that was March 24-29, 1998, a show that was requested by BTS Patron Michael Otts with his $25 pledge. Topics of discussion include:

• Wrestlemania XIV in Boston, featuring Mike Tyson as a ringside enforcer for the Steve Austin vs. Shawn Michaels main event. We talk about the match and how injuries affected it, plus Tyson's involvement and whether or not Tyson shot his own angle after the show to explain his association with Austin.
• We also talk about why Earl Hebner didn't work the show and why Shawn dedicated the main event to him.
• Plus Pete Rose and Gennifer Flowers’ wacky involvement in the show, the birth of LOD 2000, Sable working her first match, and so much more from a very newsworthy Mania.
• Akira Taue's injury in AJPW and how that affected the booking of the Champion Carnival tournament.
• Victor Quinones mending fences with Paco Alonso in CMLL.
• A wild scene at an ECW house show where ayoung child got hit with a piece of a table.
• Who are the members of the NWA in March 1998, anyway?
• Chris Cruise doing angles as a heel character in New Dimension Wrestling.
• Flash Flanagan and Troy Haste getting into a legit fight in the crowd at an IWA Mid-South TV taping in Louisville, leading to an arrest.
• Bill Goldberg as a member of the Four Horsemen?!?!?
• Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash having serious problems on WCW Thunder.

All of this and so much more on a really fun episode of BTS, we’re so happy to be back in the swing of things again!

It's Monday. You know what that means. Sort of. As a very special taster, we're offering up the first part of our new Patreon series, Destination Cancellation, for free this week so non-patrons can sample it and have it serve as a bridge to next week's return of the regular free show. (This first episode of Destination Cancellation dropped for Patrons this past Friday.) After an intro previewing the Patreon show and next week's regular show, you get the entire first part of what will be a seven week series covering the disaster that was TNA Wrestling from the July 2014 Spike TV cancellation through the end of the Destination America run in December 2015. If you like this episode and want to hear the other six parts that are dropping in the coming weeks, subscribe to our Patreon at the $5.00/month tier or higher, with annual subscriptions running $50.40 and thus saving you 16% off the monthly price. Enjoy!

---

It's Friday. You know what that means: The first of SEVEN installments covering TNA's 2014 cancellation by Spike TV through the end of their run on Destination America in 2015. Part 1 covers the weeks of July 14 to August 25, 2014, and topics of discussion include:

• Why everyone was convinced that Vince Russo was secretly working for TNA.
• Russo accidentally revealing it by sending Mike Johnson an email he meant to send to Mike Tenay.
• Russo's ridiculous, ever-changing reactions to the situation.
• Dixie Carter's inexplicable unflinching loyalty to Russo.
• Spike TV and Japanese partner promotion Wrestle-1 both making it clear to TNA that they did not want Russo around.
• TMZ breaking the story that Spike TV had cancelled TNA Impact.
• The big new TV announcement is coming soon! They promise! Just wait for the next TV taping!
• Production staff among others being owed lots of back pay.
• Kevin Kay visiting an Impact taping AFTER cancelling the show.
• How Kay's handling of the cancellation was fueled by his regret over how he handled the end of the Spike/WWE deal nine years earlier.
• Rafael Morffi and other key office staff abandoning ship for better, non-wrestling jobs.
• TNA is negotiating with...Velocity, Discovery's car and airplane channel?

....and much more. Enjoy!

New new free shows will be back very soon, but remember that we've been back doing weekly content on our Patreon page for a while during the free show hiatus, covering the Jerry Lawler/Stacy Carter 2001 WWE departure and eventual divorce, the WWE Network launch, and the "Clique Curtain Call." We're also starting an in-depth series on TNA getting cancelled by Spike TV and Destination America this week, which promises to be epic. In the meantime, though, here's the unreleased episode from three months ago. Will episode #544 ever be fully re-edited and re-released? We don't know. But enjoy episode #545, which is new to everyone!

Kris and David (from three months ago) are back (three months ago) as we discuss the week that was February 28-March 6, 1989. Topics of discussion include:

• The possibility of state athletic commissions getting more involved with regulation of pro wrestling thanks to Vince McMahon testifying that they were "sports entertainment" in New Jersey.
• Ric Flair re-upping his contract with the NWA for three more years as the promotion is undergoing a major overhaul in every way, but not necessarily in the most positive ways.
• Talk of the NWA's TV product needing major changes, especially in production and overall quality.
• Giant Baba's questionable booking of Ricky Steamboat when he comes over as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, as well as the original plans for the NWA Champion on this tour.
• A great look at Stampede Wrestling from this time period, with Ed Whalen and Bulldog Bob Brown on commentary, Brown getting involved way too much, the "retirement" of Dynamite Kid, and the greatness of Lethal Larry Cameron.
• Invader #1 returning to action in WWC after being acquitted on all charges in the Bruiser Brody murder case.
• Terry Funk's insane promo from FCW TV.
• Bill Dundee taking over the book in Continental and Steve Beverly shares his thoughts on what needs to be done better in that territory.
• Lance Russell's final TV show on WMC before leaving for the NWA…sort of, because it doesn’t actually feature Lance, and we explain why that happened.
• The same show also featuring the debut of Ronnie P. Gossett, who causes lots of chaos before he meets Jerry Lawler.
• Eric Embry finding a way to get back in a World Class ring at the expense of referee Harold T. Harris.
• Larry Zbyszko talking about being the real world champion on AWA TV.
• Ted DiBiase revealing the Million Dollar Belt on WWF TV.

All of this and so much more on a solid episode of BTS!!!

We lost our dear friend Jordan Breen a year ago today. As a special tribute, courtesy of TJ De Santis at The Rounds Podcast, here's a special compilation of all five episodes of the Sherdog Radio Network's Press Row that our own David Bixenspan appeared on with Jordan. For more of Jordan's audio output, check out not just the archive at The Rounds, which has the remaining archives of the SRN shows (including David's appearances with Jordan and Jack Encarnacao on The Roundtable and Beatdown After the Bell), the shows we did with Jordan that are available right here in the BTS archive, like the Brawl for All deep dive, and the archive of Jordan and David's Two Scoops podcast, which is currently housed in a Google Drive folder.

Rest easy, buddy.

If you'd like to make a donation in Jordan's memory, please consider the GoFundMe page for the Jordan Breen Scholarship Fund.

Well, this is a week we had to do something like this. We start by talking about the fake stabbing of THE ATROCITY KRULE and how it culminated in him being booted from all reputable indies during WrestleMania week after he cost everyone the Berwyn Eagles Club as a venue. Then we move on to WrestleMania week and this may have been a huge mistake! David keeps having to mute to cough as the show gets way too long! Kris loves him some Double Double E! Adam Weitsman: Scrap Metal King of Owego, New York is discussed in detail, as are the WWE talent security issues, among other things, including Joey Janela getting his flowers and Nick Gage's amazing weekend. We definitely shouldn't have gone this long yet, so...enjoy?

Kris Zellner is joined by Rob Naylor and Our Good Buddy Charles as we discuss the month of March 1991 in World Championship Wrestling and pop culture at large. Topics of discussion include:

• Barry Windham kinda sorta teasing leaving the Four Horsemen.
• The greatness of Buddy Landel shining through right as he gets fired by the promotion for being Budro.
• The NEVER-ENDING Z-Man vs. Terrence Taylor goes on for yet another month.
• Bobby Eaton finally turning babyface.
• The debut of the Mr. Hughes gimmick.
• Marc Mero makes his debut, getting killed by Sid Vicious.
• Rodney King gets assaulted by the LAPD in a story that will have a major impact later on.
• The greatness of The KLF.
• Owen Hart and One Man Gang make their WCW debuts.
• “Studs,” hosted by Marc DeCarlo, makes its TV debut in syndication.
• The first discussion of Sid Vicious leaving for the WWF being a real possibility.
• New Japan and WCW co-promote "Starrcade ’91 at the Tokyo Dome,” featuring the controversial Ric Flair vs. Tatsumi Fujinami NWA World Heavyweight Title change.
• Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Bonaduce doing bad boy things.
• The reason why Owen Hart's WCW stint only lasted a few weeks.

We thought this was a great show and we hope you do too!!!
