In the final BVK draft of 2021 and the end of the month long Xmas celebration, kids' Christmas movies (or specials) are the topic, and the BVK kids jump on the mics to help out with some judging. From 1 year olds to teenagers, these kids give their hot takes on the best in children's holiday programming. The BVK crew wraps up the year with a little preview of what's in store for 2022 and we also thank all of our listeners for jumping on board with us these past few months!!!
The last MOVIE pod of 2021 (DRAFT pod on Thursday!) for the BVK crew is filled to the brim with Xmas cheer as they talk Home Alone with everyone's favorite jolly draft judge, Scotch Beck. The crew reminisces on childhood viewings of this holiday classic, they reminisce on the past few months of the pod, and after a long discussion filled with laughs and drinks-a-plenty, they know exactly what Nate needs this year under his tree... a lifetime supply of grenadine.
Hello. (we had you at hello, didn't we?) This jam-packed pod includes a draft of the most romantic gestures in film or at least what some of the guys believe are romantic gestures... right, Nate? Cliff Chamberlain (State of Affairs, Homeland) joins to talk about the acting profession and he also breaks down the romantic moments to award a big shiny W to someone for their outstanding performance in a BVK Podcast draft.
You feel it in your ear drums... you feel it in your lobes... this pod is all around you... and so the feeling grows! Yeah, we talked Love Actually and brought along Brad's wife (Melissa) to share why she and Nate have such strong feelings for the biggest Christmas rom-com epic of all-time. We talk about all the love represented here including creepy-captive maid love, creepy-coworker love, and of course, creepy best friend's wife love. It's not all love, actually.
STICK AROUND! This pod is chock full of witty and memorable one-liners as the BVK crew selects their favorite sayings when someone is getting what's coming to them. This week's judge, Maurice, comes in guns blazing on the results, dropping his own kill shots on some of the draftees. Maurice doesn't spill the beans on what Raising Cane's puts in their Cane's sauce (we think it's cocaine!) but he does spill the beans on one of Brad's least impressive sporting moments!
Now we have a podcast about Die Hard! Ho-Ho-Ho! It wouldn't be Christmas without discussing Hans Gruber's takeover of the Nakatomi Plaza! Discussion includes Carl Winslow's bad case of the killing yips, the lack of coked-up characters in recent films, and how John McClain changed his name and became the main character in Unbreakable. Give this one a listen, bubby!
WHAT'S IN THE BOX!?!?! Oh my, it's Scotch Beck and he's bringing gifts of delicious liquor! The BVK crew has a merry old time talking about the biggest asshole relatives in film as they ponder how much Nate resembles the New England Patriots in all the worst ways, Zach tries to break the draft rules on numerous occasions, and then he realizes that a cool nickname like "Scotch" is guaranteed to get you great Xmas gifts. Hopefully his new nickname brings him lots of joy this holiday season!
The BVK holiday season kicks off in a big way as the crew dives headfirst down the roof like Clark Griswold into Christmas Vacation. With unanimous praise for the film, they guys get into issues of road rage, Zach shares a near-death experience with hanging Xmas lights, and Brad talks up the joys of a delicious Egg Nog and bourbon.
What makes for a hilarious sex scene? The crew dives in headfirst and bounces around numerous films in which the sex is played for laughs. Or in a few cases, serious sex scenes that come across so ridiculous they induce the giggles. Either way, body parts will be gyrating and thrusting until the BVK team is finished and exhausted... from laughing. The king of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, Scotch Beck, lends his expertise to declare who comes in first!
Zach declares this film the "greatest comedy ever", Nate discovers that "unrated" versions aren't always fulfilling in the way he hoped, Brad's Muppet love is tickled just a bit, and Nick waxes poetic on his carefree days as a professional artist much like Jason Segel in this film. In honor of the film, the crew recorded the first five minutes of this pod totally nude. You'll have to use your imaginations!
