With the BVK IPA set to release Saturday at Last Call Brewing, here's a special episode recorded live at the Last Call Brewery in Oakdale. In between making beer magic happen, we talk with the mad genius of brewing, Walter Ramirez about the beer-making process and we follow it with a conversation with Jake Stephens, the manager of the Last Call Downtown Tap Room. You'll get some insight into what it takes to brew a delicious beer, what is going into our own BVK IPA, and what kind of fun you can expect if you join us at the taproom on the evening February 5th! Fresh out of Facebook jail, the BVK crew gets it cookin' with a dive into Jon Favreau's ode to food and the people who make it. Fresh off their New Orleans honeymoon, Brewmaster Walter Ramirez and his lovely wife Kendra join to talk amazing NOLA eats as well as their experiences in the food industry. And what would a BVK episode be without some ridiculous discussions about the worst idea for a reality show, our favorite dishes we like to cook, and the upcoming BVK IPA release!

Whether he is brooding around as Batman, calculating how to destroy humanity in Vice, or staring at himself in the mirror in American Psycho, Christian Bale is going to give you a solid if not spectacular performance. The BVK crew picks CB's most memorable performances and hires (without pay, of course) Scotch Beck to judge their choices. Along the way they learn about Homecoming fails, a possible new verse to the worldwide hit, "Take a Look at my Tramp Stamp", and the reasons you should never play 3-card-monty.  

The BVK crew works their own special brand of magic on this episode dealing with Christopher Nolan's classic, The Prestige. First, there is the pledge, where you pledge to listen to all of this laugh out loud episode. Then, there is the turn, where we we switch from topic to topic to off-topic consistently throughout the pod. Finally, there is the prestige, where you all leave glowing reviews for another crazy night of movie talk, banter, and ridiculousness!

With Dogma fresh on our minds, the BVK crew looks to draft the best Kevin Smith movie characters, and bring on a judge who once had Kevin Smith offer to officiate his wedding. The judging goes sideways, quite literally, but in the end a winner is declared and there is much rejoicing. Not from the losers, of course. 

We turn to Kevin Smith for BVK episode 37 (sick reference, bro!), as we break down the 1999 comedy, Dogma. Plenty of discussions about what KS means to the crew, we try to figure out what type of movie Linda Fiorentino actually would be decent in, and we avoid randomly shouting out things like, "snoochie boochies".   

Even while making a recovery from the 'Rona, Scotch Beck jumps on to judge his first draft of 2022 bringing all sorts of Scotch-o-metrics to decide on a winner in one of the closest drafts ever! Friendships are challenged as the BVK crew berate each other's picks but in the end, friendship wins and hilarity ensues.

Lots of great breakdown here including "Shout"-related wedding injuries, unnecessary interruptions of important events, and bunches of other laughs. 

The inaugural draft of the 2022 season sees the most ruthless crime bosses trying to steal the draft for one of the BVK hosts. Rob Schafer (editor, American Zoetrope) joins the pod again as the judge, while also bringing a whole lot more insight into the movie business and future Coppola projects. Tensions are high as Nick, the pre-season 2021 champ, tries to get off to a hot start but the rest of the crew is looking to end his reign of terror! 

In our first pod of 2022, we bring Rob Schafer on to talk about his work as an editor for Francis Ford Coppola and Coppola's company, American Zoetrope. We jump in deep on the classic 1972 film, The Godfather (which two of our crew had not seen before!). Come for the extremely captivating insight into the world of Coppola, stay for stories of Nate fighting a chicken and the worst things you could ask Don Vito for at his daughter's wedding.
