The idea for this episode was sparked by talking with Alex from https://theproductiveyou.com/ on my last podcast (check it out, episode 58!) I thought I could share the productivity tips that work for me that I've implemented or am working on implementing into my life as well as how/why they work. Enjoy!
Today I interviewed Alex with https://theproductiveyou.com/ we talked about a lot including why perfect is the enemy of good, and why productivity= happiness. We also talked about persistence and just how much information your brain can hold onto at once.

Everyone knows how working out benefits you physically, but today I talk about the benefits of working out that go beyond the physical and transcend the walls of the gym.
Today I was joined by my friends Joe and Kristy Beeson who are on the tail end of a three month trip across the Western United States following their wedding in September. Find out why they decided to make the trip, the lessons they're learning and how they'll apply them to life after the trip ends.
1:01 How the idea came about.
2:49 Why the West?
4:44 How often have you got to stay with family and friends and how has that been special?
6:19 How have you enjoyed meeting new people in different parts of the country?
7:04 How did you factor in budget leading up to your trip and how do you manage it in the day to day now?
8:44 What was the reaction of people around you and loved ones when you told them about your plan?
11:45 Perspective shifts and reflections.
16:43 Food and cooking on the move.
19:08 How rigid do you plan out your days and weeks?
20:06 What have been your favorite areas?
25:40 How Gus (Joe and Kristy's dog) has managed the trip.
27:14 Advice to those doing something similar.
28:25 What’s next? Will it be tough to adjust back to a normal life? What lessons from the trip will transcend?

It’s not too often that I connect with someone from close to home on the podcast, recently I connected with Jeremiah Bair (@jeremiahbair on Instagram) after checking out some writing he did for Mind Pump. I soon found out that he also graduated from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln as did I! We briefly discussed our connection and went on to speak about how Jeremiah went from coaching in a commercial gym to coaching completely online, body acceptance, the different values of creating content, and more!
Jeremiah has a website with links to working with him as well as tons of awesome blogs: https://www.bairfit.com/

Today I talked about the importance of starting now (as it applies to anything and everything) and resisting the urge to "do it later" "start tomorrow" or "start Monday" the situation will never be as perfect as you hope for or expect it to be so you must prioritize taking action that you can clearly articulate and define. This will deliver you motivation (not the other way around). Also discussed- habit formation, why it's easier to stay in shape once you get in shape, a favorite quote from Bill Gates.
Mason Woodruff joined me for today's episode. Mason specializes in healthy cooking and alternative recipes. In addition to discussing food/cooking and macro friendly/low cal eating we talked about his creative process, how he makes his living online, his days college days and time as a personal trainer, and the importance of learning outside of formal education. Really enjoyed having you on Mason, thanks for being a great guest! Check out his Instagram and website below:
