You can argue all you want about what you think the thing is, but in the end it doesn't matter. The thing could be a leaf, but what if it's just a shadow? What if it's just a reflection? You're going to keep defending that it's a leaf and find reasons why it's a leaf.

This is a time in my life I'm very familiar with feeling helpless and hopeless. I became a functioning alcoholic. I drank to cope with these feelings that sometimes led to disconnected thoughts or a sense of disorientation. Yet the reality is that I didn't want to feel those feelings, so I drank, day after day. In the end, I drank myself to death.
