  • Episode 29 - Holy Week
It’s Holy Week for the church. This is the week that is the center of our reason for existing as followers of Jesus so join the Beyond Sunday team as we journey from Palm Sunday through Jesus’ resurrection. We’ll break down the traditions and patterns of worship through out the week and, as always, we’ll think about how we can take this week of symbolism and meaning out into the world all year long. We can’t get to Easter without journeying through the trials of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday so we hope you like this exploration of these special days.

  • Episode 28 - What to do with the Old Testament?
It’s over half of the bible but how much attention are we supposed to pay to the Old Testament? As followers of Jesus are we supposed to put more emphasis on the 10 Commandments or on the Beatitudes of Jesus? As the Beyond Sunday team we want to take sometime to think about how we should use, interpret, and understand the Old Testament in relationship to our belief in Jesus bringing a new covenant with his death and resurrection. Let us know what you think?

  • Episode 27 – Everyday Spirituality

Where do we go to experience God? Do we have to be in the wilderness or on the mountaintop? Or can we find ways to experience God in the grocery store?

  • Episode 27 - Everyday Spirituality
We’re bringing in special guest Chuck Kindsvatter as we explore ways to experience God in our everyday lives. So much of our day is spent distracting ourselves from the world around us: aimlessly looking at your phone in line at the store, avoiding eye contact with people at restaurants, flipping channels even though we know nothing is actually on TV. What would it look like if we stopped distracting ourselves and gave ourselves a chance to see the world around us? How might we start to see God in our neighbors and in our surroundings? We hope you enjoy this chance for us to experience some “everyday spirituality” as we continue our journey through the 40 days of Lent.

  • Episode 26 - Snowplow Parenting
In this episode we take a look at the trend being described as “snowplow parenting.” Do parents need to remove all the obstacles from the path of their children? Are there advantages to letting kids deal with struggles on their own? We take a look at the recent breaking news about parents who have been using wealth and influence to lie, cheat, and steal their kids way into elite universities. Then, we explore the advantages of encountering people and situations that are different and perhaps foreign to your experience. To cap off this episode we have a special interview with Garett Tomasek who leads the “Best Buddies” program at his high school.

  • Episode 25 - Millennial Faith
It seems like every time we turn around the Millennial Generation is “killing” some new longstanding institution. Applebee’s, golf courses, sun dials: we’ve talked about them all. But now we’re asking a different question: how does the Millennial Generation think about faith? And how is that an improvement or regression from the faith of their parents? There’s never one experience that can describe an entire generation but we will do our best to unpack what it means to be a young adult and be deeply rooted in your faith in our current world.
