We hear from a soldier on his 1st day back on Civvy Street, from a bomb disposal soldier who lost his religion, from a father and son on how their family life radically changed when dad came home from the Iraq war, and an American machine gunner turned poet gives us his take on going out on patrol. We also get a vivid account of life in Camp Bastion from Sally Lockwood of the BFBS, and hear from DJ Charlene Guy on how music in the Camp serves many purposes.

The Combined Services Disabled Ski Team Chairman is Colonel Fred Hargreaves he also chatted with Hal and focussed on a fundraiser coming up involving a bike ride from Edinburgh to the Tower of London.

Former Serving Soldier Mick Brennan was one of the guest speakers at the CSDST Newcomers Event, Mick lost both of his lower legs in a bomb attack whilst serving in Iraq in 2014. Hal asked him about his career and plans for the future.

WO2 Mark Scorgie with the Royal Engineers was a keen Army skier in the Combined Services Team, he now spends a great deal of his time working as a Ski Technician with the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team, he began working with them in 2008 and has gone on to coach Sit Skier Mick Brennan at the Paralympics. Mark sat down with Hal Stewart at a recent Newcomers event held at Hemel Hempstead's Snow Centre.

The 2014 Combined Services Disabled Ski Team (CSDST) Newcomers' Event took place at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday 13th May. This day long opportunity gives anyone with an interest in the sport a chance to meet coaches, instructors and competitors from across the Forces world to see if joining the CSDST would be for them. One of the special guests in attendance was Paralympian Mick Brennan formerly in Bomb Disposal. Mick lost both his lower legs in a bomb attack whilst serving in Iraq in 2004.

The day was also an opportunity to celebrate the success of another strong season, including at the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games and to welcome the new CSDST President, Lt Gen Evans CBE DSO.
