Talking about the prophet Amos and why God chose a man like that.

After Hannah left her son with Eli, she could have gone off and had a good cry, but instead, she burst into a song of praise to the Lord.

in the first part of this letter Peter talked about walking in hope, now he is going to talk about walking in holiness.

These two things go together, 1 John 3:3 “every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure”

The root meaning of the word “holy” is to be set apart or to be different.

This is not talking about being odd or weird, but being different.

His present lifestyle is not only different from his past way of life, but it is different from the lifestyles of the unbelievers around him.

Now, this is not an easy thing to do, it is hard to walk in this world and maintain a holy walk.

The anti-God atmosphere around us that the Bible calls “the world” is always pressuring us, trying to force us to conform.

In this paragraph, Peter presented to his readers five spiritual incentives to encourage them (and us) to maintain a different lifestyle, a holy walk in a polluted world.

During the time of the judges the Israelites were in a bad situation. 1) because they lacked godly leadership. The priesthood was defiled, there was no sustained prophetic message from the Lord. 1 Samuel 3:1 And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.

Leadership is vital to a church's spiritual health. Paul said to follow me as he follows Christ.

Hearing the word of God is also vital to a church's health. Luke 18:8 will He really find faith on the earth?”

We need to be a people desiring God’s word because I guarantee if we stop caring then God will stop speaking.

The law of Moses was being ignored throughout the land. And as God often did in Israel’s history, God began to solve the problem by sending a baby.

Babies were like God’s announcement that He knows the need, cares about His people, and is at work.

To make the event even greater, God sometimes selects barren women to be the mothers, Isaac to Sarah, Jacob and Esau to Rebekah, and Joseph to Rachel.
