A Study in the book of Isaiah from our Friday home fellowship.
Winston Churchhill was once asked to give the qualifications a person needed in order to succeed in politics, and he replied: “it is the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterward to explain why it didn’t happen.”
Well, because God’s prophets were correct all of the time, they didn’t have to explain away their mistakes.
"when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. - Deu 18:22 NKJV
To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. - Isa 8:20 NKJV
Isaiah was a man who had God’s light, and he was not afraid to let it shine.
But, before we actually go into the book we need to do some more background so that we can better understand the man and his times.
