Chapter 20 of the Gospel of John deals with Jesus' resurrection, and contains two verses that are often debated within theological circles. The Holy Spirit 'fires me up' a little bit, so please forgive me 🤠 Enjoy... It's a great episode! 🤠✝

Chapter 19 of the Gospel of John deals with the scourging (flogging with metal and/or bone tipped leather thongs attached to a wooden paddle) of Christ, the final appeal by Pilate to not crucify Jesus, the Sanhedrin, Sadducees & Pharisees reply to Crucify Christ, the actual Crucifixion of Christ, and retrieval of the body by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. ✝

In Chapter 18 of the Gospel of John, we are presented with a someone different view than the Synoptic Gospels. Here, John leaves out the 'sign of betrayal' by Judas Iscariot, the crying of the Apostle Peter after denying Christ three times, the trial by the High Priest Caiaphus (though he does include interrogation by Annas), among other things. This chapter is very revealing upon the nature of love and protection offered through Jesus Christ; it is a great episode! 🤠✝

What a great episode this is! 🤠  I have a few hiccups during the episode, but I left them in for fun!  Chapter 17 of the Gospel of John is often referred to as the "High Priestly Prayer." This is where Jesus talks directly to the father, after the last supper and farewell discourse. Jesus' prayer covers:

1. Jesus prays concerning Himself (i.e. His upcoming crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection and ascension)

In this chapter Jesus completes his farewell discourse, before His prayer in Chapter 17. Jesus warns His disciples that they will experience troubles in the days ahead as they witness to His truth, but that sorrow will be turned to joy, and His gift of the Spirit will be their guide, counselor, comforter, and advocate in His absence. Nearly all of the words in this chapter are again by Christ Himself 🤠✝

Chapter 15 in the Gospel of John is another awesome chapter, where every verse was spoken by Jesus Christ Himself! It is a continuation of the previous Christological Discourse (a.k.a. the 'Farewell Discourse'), and in this section Christ defines the concepts of three important relationships that His disciples would have to deal with in the future:

1. The Disciples relationship with Christ (we abide in Him as he abides in Us)

In the Gospel of John, Chapter: 14, Jesus begins another discourse directly after the Last Supper. Most believe that they were still in the upper room at the time.  Even though Jesus is aware that his crucifixion was upon them, instead of the disciples comforting Jesus, He takes the time to comfort them. He begins on re-emphasizing His deity, and then covers the coming gift of the Holy Spirit. It's a great chapter for learning 🤠✝

In this chapter we have the famous "washing of the feet," where Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. There was of course a dual metaphor at play here: 1. of servitude 2. cleansing of the Spirit. Jesus also highlights why he allowed Judas Iscariot to remain with the disciples even though He knew that Judas would betray him (note Psalm 41:9)... much much more in the episode!! 😎

We open Chapter 12 of the Gospel of John with Mary (sister of Lazarus) anointing Jesus' feet with the "essence of nard" (also known as snakenard, a plant grown in the Himalayas from the Valerian family, akin to what we would know as honeysuckle). From there we approach Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey's colt, followed by a Christological discourse in which Jesus predicts his death, and most of the people do not believe. ✝

We see the last miracle of Jesus in the Gospel of John during Chapter 11. Mary and Martha send a messenger to let Jesus know that His friend Lazarus had died. Jesus waits two days before going to see them, so that Lazarus was dead for a total of four days before Jesus resurrected him. We see Jesus display an array of emotions in this chapter, and the Jews arguing once again about the deity of Jesus, even after he resurrected a man who was dead for 4 days! ✝
