• Written by the Prophet Isaiah about 740-700 BC
• Prophetic book quoted many times in the New Testament 
• Isaiah was a prophet carrying God’s message to the Children of Israel and the Children of Israel to God. He hurt and rejoiced with the God he served. He hurt for his people and longed for their redemption 
• The book is beautifully rich and complex
• Isaiah reveals a God who is in total control of the past, present and future and his faith never wavers 
• God had a covenant with His people but Israel didn’t know Him 
• The book swings back and forth between the themes of judgement and the promise of blessing after the judgment
