Big Lies Bigger Truth

Today's podcast contains a wealth of treasure straight from the mind of God. We open with a parable from Jesus that contains both a terrifying warning and a welcome and encouraging invitation. Then in Genesis 22 we read one of the most famous stories in all of the Bible, and marvel at the faith of Abraham and what it all means. In Joshua we see a potential crisis averted through confrontation. In Job we see an example of very poor theology and how it can lead us astray even today. In Isaiah we see God grieve as He warns Jerusalem to repent. And in 1 Corinthians Paul gives the church of Corinth – and us – the strongest possible warning and admonition. The question is: what will WE do with that?

The Deep Bible Podcast is a daily, deep study of God's Word. We read and meditate on 6 chapters from the Bible, working sequentially through the gospels, the Torah, Old Testament history, wisdom, prophets, and New Testament epistles. We are on pace to read the entire Bible 1.5-3 times per year. This is an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Bible from the Bible itself, with the help of a born again Christian layman. You can find the Deep Bible Podcast by searching "Big Lies Bigger Truth" in any podcast player or on rumble.com/biggertruth. We are also now on youtube until they take us down for refusing to compromise on Biblical Truth. Past episodes are available on our Rumble channel.

The really delicious Truth woven throughout today's passages is that God is Love AND God is Just. If you've wrestled with how could a loving God send sinners to hell and execute His holy wrath on people, let's see what God actually has to say about this in the Bible. From Matthew 21 all the way through Genesis, Joshua, Job, Isaiah, and 1 Corinthians we see a consistent theme that God executes His judgment on the wicked - and we see that this is the most loving thing He could do.

Today we see some great examples of God's goodness, how tender and merciful He is to us even as He fulfills His promises to deliver perfect justice, thereby judging our sins. God's character is made plain and clear, even in the seemingly small and insignificant things He does, like providing Joshua and the whole world through the people of Israel the means to distinguish between first degree murder and accidental manslaughter, and to prevent the vicious cycle of vengeance in tribalistic cultures.

Throughout today's passages we get some great details about the exquisite goodness of God's character. Today's reading: Matthew 20, Genesis 20, Joshua 20, Job 20, Isaiah 20, 1 Corinthians 4.

We open in Matthew 19 with the famous quote, "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven." What does this mean? We then see in Genesis 19 an incredibly horrific series of sexual sins and meditate on why God even put this in the Bible. In Joshua we're given a beautiful example of God's design for earthly government and justice. In Job we see an incredible prophesy of a living redeemer. In Isaiah we see a prophesy of Egypt, Assyria, and Israel worshipping the LORD together. And then we're given both milk and solid food in 1 Corithians 3. This episode is so loaded with meaning and fruit. Let us all count the cost and follow Jesus - wherever that may lead.

Today I'm just blown away at the common theme in our passages of God's promise of the 2nd coming of Christ and the perfect justice He will bring. Especially today, when we see injustice all around us, we can rest in the promise that there will be perfect justice at the end of this part of our story. We also get repeated warnings of the grief we cause ourselves by compromising on God's commandments and warnings to reject false teachings. We meditate on who we believe Jesus to be and give thanks for His grace and mercy.

The Deep Bible Podcast is a great way to hear and understand God's Word on a daily basis. We read and discuss 36 chapters every week in this podcast. God can use this to change your life for the better and make you more like Christ. Check it out!

Faith is a strong theme throughout today's passages. We see several examples of weak faith and a couple examples of strong faith. How much do we really trust God? What does what comes out of our mouth reflect to us about our faith?

Today's reading: Matthew 15, Genesis 15, Joshua 15, Job 15, Isaiah 15, Romans 15.

From Herod to Joshua to Job we see the consistent call today to convict us of fearing our fellow men more than we fear God. If God is for us, who can be against us, and yet Job shows us clearly that our natural fleshly state is to forget that Truth. We marvel at history being foretold in great detail by Isaiah and God's promises being fulfilled from Abram to Joshua. We also are convicted not to judge or even exert our will but instead to lovingly serve and self-sacrifice. Today's reading:

Matthew 14, Genesis 14, Joshua 14, Job 14, Isaiah 14, Romans 14.

Today we have some awesome threads. Jesus drops a big download of parables about the Kingdom of Heaven and God's judgment on the world, then we see God promise Abram all the land east and west of the Jordan, and in Joshua the fulfillment of that promise. We're amazed at Job's enlightening attitude towards God and at Isaiah's foretelling of actual history with Babylon. Then Paul brings it all home for us with some beautiful, practical, and convicting advice in Romans 13.

Give this podcast a chance and God will change your life. Every week we read 36 chapters of God's Word from 6 different parts of the Bible and marvel at God's consistent authorship and message to us, today.
