On hour 2 of the Big Show, Matt and Peter are joined by Luke Gazdic. We get Luke's thoughts on all the biggest news around the NHL. We started with the Flames and Mikael Backlund. Mikael passes Mark Giordano fir 2nd most games in Flames history, Luke gives some of his experiences with Backlund and what an accomplishment that is. Luke was also Covering Oilers vs Blackhawks and he tells us what has changed for the Oilers as they have rattled off 8 wins in a row. Lastly, Luke gives us his unfiltered thoughts on the Cutter Gauthier situation. It's a very confusing scenario and those die hard Philly fans will definitely remember this when Cutter eventually returns to the Wells Fargo center.

On hour 2 of the Big Show, Matt and Peter are joined by NHL Inisder, David Pagnotta. Pagnotta gives us his thoughts on the latest news around the NHL and some rumors around the Calgary Flames. We start the interview with the wild news out of Philly that saw Cutter Gauthier getting traded to the Anaheim Ducks. Cutter made it known that he was never going to sign with Philly and that's why he was dealt. We get Pagnotta's thoughts on the big bag of money William Nylander got from Toronto and how that deal will age for the Leafs. We also get some insights on the Calgary Flames, specifically on who are some teams that are interested in Elias Lindholm and some teams that are ramping up their efforts to trade for Noah Hanifin.  

(22:50) To wrap the hour, Eric Francis joins the show. Eric helps us preview tonight's game against the Sens and the race for the playoffs. The Flames are going to play around .600 hockey in order to solidify themselves as a playoff team. We also continue the Noah Hanifin discussion with Eric. Eric has a feeling that the Flames might be closer to coming to terms with Hanifin than what others think.

On hour 2 of the Big Show, Matt and Peter are joined by our Big Show Flames Analyst Brent Krahn. The guys get into the good the bad and the ugly that was the weekend for the Calgary Flames. The guys discuss Jacob Markstrom's great performance against the Flyers and how he had to deal with a lot of adversity in that game as Philly made it hard on Markstrom all game. Huberdeau gets a goal and 2 assists this weekend as he continues to be hot in the new year. The guys then breakdown what went wrong for the Flames this weekend as they get into the constant turnovers, the struggling powerplay and the lack of compete in Chicago.  

(25:28) To wrap the hour, the guys have a conversation on what the Flames should do with Dan Vladar. Krahn explains why bringing up Wolf after this weekend performance by Vladar would be an impulsive move by the Flames. Just throwing Wolf into the net and putting Vladar on the shelf wouldn't do Wolf or Vladar any good. Later the guys get into a broader NHL discussion as we have seen a lot of dangerous hits this season. Does the NHL have a major issue on their hands? What can they do to eliminate these hits?
