We were 'grounded' this month, but we still managed to read two great books about travel and flying, Cruising Attitude by Heather Poole and Nuts: Southwest Airlines' Crazy Recipe for Business and Personal Success by Kevin & Jackie Freiberg.

This month’s Celebrate the Stacks is all about Women because it is National Womens’ History Month. Women are 49.6% of the population worldwide and goodness are we busy women! Amie read Southern Lady Code by Helen Ellis, plus a couple more, and Tami read Hill Women: Finding Family and a Way Forward in the Appalachian Mountains by Cassie Chambers.

This book bag features two books that are very different. Amie read The Ash Family by Molly Dektar about a young girl who finds herself involved in a cult nestled in the mountains, and Tami read Under the Tuscan Sun, by Frances Mayes, a truly wonderful read about living and cooking in Tuscany, Italy.

This week’s Perfect Pairing is all about FOOD! Tami read Tender at the Bone: Growing up at the Table by Ruth Reichl and Amie read Notes from a Young Black Chef by Kwame Onwauchi. Grab a fork and your favorite comfort food and listen while we discuss these great books and a whole host of food related recipes and things we love to eat!

Oh my, did we enjoy Louisville, Kentucky during our visit for the American Association of School Librarians Conference. We read two local authors, Wendell Berry & Bobbie Ann Mason, that truly delighted us.

This week we Celebrate the Stacks, and Love Is in the Air. Our twist on Love is that we didn’t read a romance novel, rather books with strong themes of love. Love can be complicated, frustrating, glorious and sometimes all kinds of messy! These two books are about the love within families struggling to stay connected.

This week, on our first Perfect Pairing, we selected two books with a strong sense of “neighborhood”. Amie read The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers by Maxwell King and Tami read The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland by Jim DeFede. Both selections gave us great insight into what it means to be a good neighbor and what a strong sense of community means during a difficult time.

They discuss The Motel Life by Willy Vlautin and The Flamer by Ben Rogers. Both authors grew up in Reno, graduated from Reno High School and have written about this beautiful community we call home.
