#98: When using the Revit modify tools (Move/Rotate/Offset) hold down to check/uncheck the COPY option. Cool! #BIMTwitterTips
    #97: I’ve always appreciated the global #AEC #BIM #collaboration. More openness, less #BIMsnobs 🙂 #thankyou #teamwork #BIMTwitterTips
#96: Try View Templates, even if you think you don’t need them. It’s a good habit, and chances are you’ll want them later #BIMTwitterTips
#95: Love Revit’s “Load By Category” as much as I do? 😉 Instead, just open the fam & pick “Load into Proj & Close”. Done! #BIMTwitterTips
#95A Use the same process…but change the option to include Sheets. (See image) ow.ly/i/avhVR #HugeTimeSaver #BIMTwitterTips
#94: Many know of “Insert From File” to copy details from proj’s, but not that you can do entire sheets of details at once! #BIMTwitterTips
    #93: Follow these people ASAP: @cridder_ @TheBIMsider @MattJezyk @caddguru @BIM4ScottC #BIM #Mentors #MustFollow #BIMTwitterTips

#89: Client: Aren’t you teaching your way out of a job? Me: If I’m good enough you’ll refer me to a new one! #RealSupport #BIMTwitterTips
#88 ”Be Kind, & Relinquish!” Am I showing my age?! Collab
#87: After 15 yrs in #AEC, most project issues aren’t w/the model, content, or software, but simply a lack of #communication
    #86: Learn Revits Object Override Tiers: Line Weights>Obj Styles>View Temp>View Override>Obj Override
#85: Keep learning, you’ll never know enough! And make sure the excitement of opportunity overshadows the anxiety #limitless #BIMTwitterTips
#84: I’ve noticed a fine line between finding ways to be lazy and finding ways to improve efficiency 😉
#83: Avoid hybrid CAD/BIM projects if possible. Yes it’s a step forward, but if the team isn’t ready don’t rush it! #trustme #BIMTwitterTips
#82: Yes text in Revit can be opaque. Yes it can be added anywhere. No you may not cover dimensions or tags w/them #really #BIMTwitterTips
#81: Revit Grid Guides work great for sheet placement, but how do you line up plan regions? Visit http://ow.ly/L2AU6  #BIMTwitterTips
    #80: Open a 3D Perspective, right click on the Navigation wheel, & pick Increase/Decrease Focal Length-Thanks @TheRevitKid! #BIMTwitterTips
#79: Check…then check again, that the team fully grasps the concept of Revits 2D-vs-3D extents for levels/grids #trustme #BIMTwitterTips
#78: Revit keynote, tag, or text? Don’t rush this decision! This alone can save/waste major project hours #plan #efficiency #BIMTwitterTips

  • S1E3 BIM Cave
This is the first in our Collaboration series. When we planned this episode we didn’t plan on it becoming a series. As we discovered doing this podcast, this topic is too big and there are too many things to talk about. In this first episode we outline the different types of collaboration; BIM Meetings, file transfer, Revit central file sync, and online meetings. We discuss each type and what each type is best used for.
Bill talks about the drawbacks of using Dropbox for synchronizing Revit Central files and why I seems to work at first.
Please leave a comment about what you would like us to discuss in future episodes in this series.

    More information about RTC
The Revit Technology Conference (RTC) is an annual event designed to cater to the needs of the BIM community. Founded and run by users of Autodesk® Revit® software, RTC is the pre-eminent educational and networking event for BIM users worldwide. It is dedicated to the use of BIM tools, processes and workflows and other associated software in the architecture, engineering and construction industries.
RTC is a unique, independent conference covering all things BIM and the whole ecosystem that supports it, and that goes to ensuring your success in the marketplace. No other event brings so many opportunities and benefits together in a single location. As a ‘by users, for users’ event, RTC is the best place to get unvarnished advice from the people who use the technologies to drive their businesses, and the industry as a whole, forward. Business leaders, thought leaders, innovators and implementers; they are all here, and all ready to give away their secrets (okay, some of their secrets…) to aid in the quest for a better, smarter industry, and a stronger, more sustainable environment.
In 2011 RTCem not only held its annual Australasian event, but also broke into the North American market holding its first event in Huntington Beach, California. in 2013, the inaugural RTC Europe event was held in Delft, the Netherlands
2014 marks the tenth year of RTC events, and sees 5 events being held across three continents, with conferences in Melbourne, Chicago and Dublin, and workshops (DTS, below) in Denver and Chicago.
