First off this week we recap Part 2 of Night Vale’s latest arc “A Door Ajar,” and so far the only thing we know for sure is that Carlos is hiding something and it’s making us nervous. (Also Susan Cooper your CAR has been TOWED.)

Then we talk about podcasts we’re looking forward to (Limetown season two!) and not sure about (Pounded in the Butt By My Own Podcast, though we’re not dismissing it till we hear it) and talk a little about Jessica Jones, the Punisher, and Dune, before finishing on a weird tangent about the difference between Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer.

So the main plan for the week was to talk all about Black Panther, and we do: we get into the fight scenes and the designs and the actors and the story and how Shuri is the most badass Disney Princess ever.

And then we went into what we thought would be a quick word about the state of IDW’s Transformers and went into this epic rant about what’s going to happen. We go from what we know to what we don’t know to sheer guesswork from what we’ve read in the comment threads of random blogs. OMG. You guys. You know when we warn everyone that we’re about to spoil the hell out of the latest Welcome To Night Vale episode? Well you better take us seriously this week, because the final episode of “A Story Of Love And Horror” was hands down the most depressing Night Vale episode ever and we’re going to spoil the hell out of it.

After that we scrape ourselves off the floor long enough to recap the next Night Vale episode “A Door Ajar Part 1,” and debrief on North Carolina Comicon and American Gods, but seriously you guys, that Love and Horror episode left us a little traumatized. Elizabeth finally finished watching the last two seasons of Hannibal, so this week she and Kathryn talk about the best parts (the dinner party scenes, natch), the sexiest parts (it’s a toss-up between Hannibal and Alana, or Hannibal and Will), the worst parts (“Do you SEE do you SEE do you SEE do you SEE”) and the parts that made us want to hide behind the couch (for crying out loud guys could you JUST LET CHILTON DIE ALREADY?)

Then we strayed into the Defenders (shut UP Danny) and Star Wars Rebels by way of Mads’ brother Lars. We also break our usual policy of not googling things on the podcast by apparently googling all the things. Yes, the super-long titles continue on Welcome To Night Vale. (Although this week’s title is exactly as long as the last one. We carefully checked in order to confirm. Because reasons.)

In the first half we look in on Night Vale’s latest (completely doomed?) relationship. (They could still surprise us, but things aren’t looking so good.) After that we touch very briefly on: last season’s Doctor Who, Get Out, Oscar-nominated feature-length animation, (and that cool animation in Harry Potter), American Horror Story, Constantine, Hannibal, cosplay pics, and artist commissions. Somehow we got into an incredibly heavy discussion about how much of a jerk does someone have to be where we don’t like his stuff anymore, but we finished up on a good note with the new Incredibles 2 trailer. The planets finally aligned (…took them long enough. Get it together, planets…) and Binary System Podcast was able to get Elizabeth, Kathryn, Nathan, and Jada together at the same time to talk about this year’s Oscar-Nominated Animated Shorts. Spoiler warnings for all the shorts (as well as, randomly, Moana) as we go over our favorites, tell “Stupid Theater People” stories, and discuss whether or not Red Riding Hood and Snow White were a couple. (Though we all agree Red is a total badass.)

Not sure what’s going on lately, but there’s a wealth of topics that we could turn into podcasts this month. So many fun things going on: the Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts are playing at theaters, there’s a new Welcome to Night Vale episode to recap, we’ve got the Hannibal series to review, a list of helpful movie/tv sites to compile, and the number of songs we’d like to talk about from the WTNV Weather segment just keep adding up.

…not that we’re ready to talk about any of that now of course.

Listen in as we go over all the topics that’ll come up in the next few podcasts as soon as we’re capable of discussing them, including Night Vale episodes that haven’t broadcast yet and movies and TV we haven’t finished watching.
