He is one of the most influential filmmakers of our generation. If Steven Spielberg ruled the 80s, it is safe to say Quentin Tarantino owned the 90s. His story is almost as famous as his observations of the ways of European McDonalds. A video store clerk who used a few big breaks to his full advantage. But as myself, Jack, and Alyx go through his resume in this retrospective, we will observe whether that still stands true today. We will also review his brand new film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and answer whether it is as good as its trailers look.

In 2015, Tarantino was three years removed from his biggest hit. Yet, once again stumbling blocks were thrown in front of him which prevented his next vision to be realized onscreen. In January 2014, the script for a project he had been working on for years called The Hateful Eight leaked online through circumstances that Alyx in the podcast calls 'the best old man internet mistake of all time'. As a result, Tarantino was not going to make it, stating he had "at least ten more projects to choose from".

Yet, the fire was relit following a live script read through, and the pressure was on Tarantino to make it for the screen. After a rollout which included a 70 mm road show, and the director snapping at Disney for keeping his movie off the screen while Star Wars The Force Awakens keeps the screens he wanted, Christmas 2015 we finally got The Hateful Eight.

Join Jack, Alyx, and myself as we get ever closer to closing the book on what will probably be the longest retrospective of all time. Wait, we still have Bond next year.

The Hateful Eight (2015) (?/10, ?/10, ?/10)

Here it is, the first Binge Aftertaste since Lawlapalooza 2019 ended, There are things from that weekend to discuss, which I do when I bring Matthew Goudreau on later in the show. But first, a little business has to be taken care of.

The beginning of the year was not a good time for me. Without going into any detail, I had a pretty traumatic couple months where I lost two things that meant everything to me. One day, I came across a book by my first guest Gabrielle Stone called Eat, Pray, #FML. A couple marathon days of reading later, I had already finished it and I feel very safe in saying that it changed for the better a lot of ways I look at how to handle life's toughest road blocks. I knew from that day on that I had to interview Ms Stone, and I feel honored that she took time out of her busy schedule to do just that.

We talk about everything from what it was like having a famous mom growing up (Dee Wallace), to the exact events which led her to write the book which has spoken to so many, as well as her own acting and directing projects. I cannot thank Ms Stone enough and wish her all the luck in the world. Hopefully this interview helps the book find and help someone out of an emotional setback like it helped me.

I then bring back Matthew Goudreau and we give our own testament of how Lawlapalooza 2019 went. How was it in an Air BnB with six people and one bathroom? How was it being in an Uber with both Jack and Kupka? How was the booze? How drunk did we get? Who else did we drink with? We answer all of those questions, as well as what our upcoming retrospectives are going to be, throughout this podcast. So what are you waiting for?
