  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Quentin Tarantino Retrospective w/ Alyx Ancira and Jack Falvey: Reservoir Dogs (1992)
He is one of the most influential filmmakers of our generation. If Steven Spielberg ruled the 80s, it is safe to say Quentin Tarantino owned the 90s. His story is almost as famous as his observations of the ways of European McDonalds. A video store clerk who used a few big breaks to his full advantage. But as myself, Jack, and Alyx go through his resume in this retrospective, we will observe whether that still stands true today. We will also review his brand new film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and answer whether it is as good as its trailers look.

But first, it's time to start in the beginning. In 1992, Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs made a huge splash at Sundance and stamped his ticket to Hollywood stardom. With a push from Harvey Keitel and an imposing Michael Madsen as Mr Blonde, the movie made his intentions and film style known right from the get go. Highly stylized violence mixed with contemptable guys whose dialogue makes them endearing. But how has it aged, and is it really as good as its reputation?

Join Jack, Alyx, and myself as we answer these questions, and begin our journey through Quentin Tarantino's resume of films.

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Child’s Play Retrospective w/ Matthew Goudreau: Child’s Play (2019)
I'm not sure there has ever been a time when a remake has come out when the franchise it is remaking is still going strong. But that's exactly what we have in 2019's Child's Play. Original creator Don Mancini is still working the franchise he has been at the forefront of for thirty plus years. But original studio MGM was starved for a taste of the Chucky pie after selling the franchise off following the first film. Hence, here we are.

After months of antagonizing each other on Facebook about this film, the time has come for Matt and myself to finally review 2019's Child's Play. Is it as bad as we have been building it to be for a year straight? Is it bad at all? What can we expect in the future? Listen to the podcast that'll be sure to piss Don Mancini off as much as the movie itself.

  • BingeCast: Toy Story 4, Perpetual Grace, ancient audio, and more
Moreno finds an old hard drive and, with the help of Chad C, the boys flow down memory lane while yelling at how stupid they sound. Otherwise, Toy Story 4 and Perpetual Grace take this weekend's spotlight. Everyone has a lot of live to give. Gross.

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – X-Men Retrospective w/Matthew Goudreau and Mike Batchelor: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Before Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe took over all things comic book, there was 20th Century Fox and X-Men. If someone wants to see what the comic book film landscape looked like, just take a look at 1989's Punisher and 1994's Phantom. But then came Blade (which we'll cover eventually), a movie that came out in 1998 and proved that cinematic movies based on comic books could indeed be financially successful. And after a lot of false pretenses and multiple script changes, Marvel's X-Men was finally ready to roll before cameras with little known director Bryan Singer behind the camera. Little did we know that not only would this franchise have a lot of peaks and valleys, but the Mouse House would eventually swallow its rights up whole. Will Garrett, Matt, and Batch enjoy the ride up to and through this year's Dark Phoenix?
I can't remember a retrospective which had more doom and gloom at the end of the tunnel than this one we are doing for X-Men. From the very beginning, bad press and bad word of mouth seemed to go hand in hand with Dark Phoenix, and I was wondering whether this series was worth diving into. But I feel we put together a hell of a series, and the least we could do was cap it off with this review of new director Simon Kinberg's conclusion Dark Phoenix. But will the film be worth YOUR time?
I would like to thank both Batch and Matt for seriously bringing their A-Game for this series, and stay tuned, as there are plans for a MUCH bigger set of shows with the three of us down the road.

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – X-Men Retrospective w/Matthew Goudreau and Mike Batchelor: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
Before Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe took over all things comic book, there was 20th Century Fox and X-Men. If someone wants to see what the comic book film landscape looked like, just take a look at 1989's Punisher and 1994's Phantom. Little did we know that not only would this franchise have a lot of peaks and valleys, but the Mouse House would eventually swallow its rights up whole. Will Garrett, Matt, and Batch enjoy the ride up to and through this year's Dark Phoenix?
After X-Men Days of Future Past ended up becoming a huge box office and critical success, director Bryan Singer wasted little time in jumping right back into the director's chair for X-Men: Apocalypse. Released to the worst reviews thus far -as well as $200 million less at the box office- Apocalypse is looked at by many to be the worst X-Men film of the series. But Matt and myself proclaimed at the end of the Deadpool podcast that we originally left the 2016 film feeling like its critical backlash was kind of unwarranted. How do we feel now?
Listen below not only to hear us review the film, but also get into the Bryan Singer rumors that actually began years before but really came to the forefront with this and Bohemian Rhapsody two years later. I also talk about actually working at 20th Century Fox during the film's making. All this and more below!
And be sure to join us on Friday for our review of Dark Phoenix!

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – X-Men Retrospective w/Matthew Goudreau and Mike Batchelor: Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018)
Will Garrett, Matt, and Batch enjoy the ride up to and through this year's Dark Phoenix?
Surging on their X-Men franchise, 20th Century Fox seemed content with not expanding upon characters which did not have 'Wolverine' in their title. Yet in the background lay a Canadian actor trying to get his dream project made named Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds had played the little known character of Deadpool in 2009's X-Men Origins Wolverine. But he was determined to right the wrong with an origin story that remained true to the character. His persistence paid off as in 2016, Deadpool arrived and ended up being a monster hit, making almost $800 million in the process.
I was not one who fell in love with the film when it was originally released, and I had not seen it since when we picked it up for review this week. With Deadpool and Deadpool 2, myself, Batch, and Matt delve even deeper into the X-Men franchise and I try to see if I was missing something three long years ago. Also, how did the sequel pan out?
Join us for yet another confrontational podcast in this retrospective series that has had it all. Will a change of opinion be added to the list?
