This is a topic that I could talk about for hours. It's a significant difference in opinion from the main stream child behavioral treatments.
ABA is forced conditioned behavior complaince that uses, what they call "play", to correct what they call, "inappropriate behaviors". I truly believe all this does is condition the child to mask their body's need for expression. Long periods of masking can be harmful.
There is another way. Behavior is the body trying to communciate a need. If we are able to satisfy this need, the "appropriate" behavior is natural. Teaching these techniques, in my opinion, could lead to a life of wellness and positivity.
In this podcast, we discuss something that most therapists won't buy, but I know from personal experience makes a huge, signficantly positive experience.
