We talked with Hallandale Beach Vice Mayor Sabrina Javellana about the wave of progressive candidates ushered into office north of the Miami-Dade county line, what it means for Florida’s second-biggest county, and how it could serve as a template to win more elections throughout the state. We also touched on how Florida’s progressives are centering new and strong voices, and how to turn the state’s moribund Democratic party into a helping force, not a centrist hindrance.

They lost Florida, they lost key Senate races, they lost ground in the House, and they lost their collective cool as they descended into arguments and infighting this week. But the Democrats also won their biggest prize, and it wasn’t really very close. Today, Americans all across the political spectrum (except the right) are breathing a sigh of relief that at least bad-orange-man can’t hurt them anymore. 

We talked with Awesome Movie Year cohost Jason Harris about the historic effort it took to drag Trump from power and the accompanying catharsis. We also got an inside look at some of the jokes he’s workshopping as Joe Biden’s ghostwriter.

After discussing the big news, we did a deep post mortem on the corruption and incompetence at the top of the Florida Democratic Party on the heels of its latest in a long, long streak of losses across the board. Also some talk about random races, progressives winning, and QAnon.
