This was an honest-to-goodness good stretch of baseball from the Baltimore Orioles! And they’re, like 13-10 since the All Star Break. That’s… not a sub-five-hundred stretch of games!!! Is this the part where we get orange slices?
This week is a regular show, meaning Scott is back behind the ones-and-twos. The BEV boys are reunited, and it feels so nice.

The BEVys are here!

It’s time for the 5th Annual BEVy Awards, presented by the Bird’s Eye View podcast. What are the BEVys, you ask? Well, the BEVys are a mid-season awards show in which we (and some of our friends and colleagues in the Bird-O’s-sphere) hand out faux awards. Except there is no real hardware, and nobody is here to accept them. The BEVys are a little bit like Who’s Line Is It, Anyway in the fact that the games are made up and the points don’t matter.

The BEVys always begin with some musical entertainment, as the guys tackle the toughest issues of the day – namely online civility and the chances of re-signing Manny Machado. Not a fan of our dulcet tones? We can’t blame you. If you’d like to get off this ride, feel free to skip time markers 3:15 through 10:40. Otherwise, buckle up – we’re at it, again.

The All Star Break is upon us, and the Orioles (and their fans) a much needed break. We’re not saying this season is over, by any stretch of the imagination, but a playoff berth is looking less and less likely. At this point, we want to have confidence that the Orioles can salvage a .500 season.
It’s the magic of Orioles Baseball.

Around the Bases: All Star Edition

Jonathan Schoop is having a great season. But isn’t it weird that he’s the only Orioles All Star representative? I’d have a hard time identifying another player to send to the ASG (stop coughing so loudly, Trey Mancini). It does seem a little cruel that the game is in Miami and Manny Machado is having an off-year. It would have been fun to see one of the game’s brightest stars shine in his home town.
It would be even nicer to see him shining in Baltimore on a nightly basis, but we digress.
For this All Star Edition of Around the Bases:
First Base: All Star Selection
Second Base: Can the Orioles win back into Buy Mode?
Shortstop: Jonathan Schoop at shortstop.
Third Base: Avoiding the BIG INNING
Home Plate: O’s (and others) are scouting Jose Quintana.

Well this week was absurd. Scott’s pick, Dylan Bundy didn’t give up any home runs. Jake’s pick, Alec Asher, was optioned to AAA. We’re going to call this a tie and give Jake a very stern talking to about picking… well, anything.
