TWO WHOLE DAYS WITHOUT BASEBALL?!?! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! The Rangers series was cut short, leaving the Orioles on the short end of a 1-2 split of the three games played. Do we admit to this being their first series loss, or do we hold out hope for the makeup game in June? The O’s spoiled us with seven straight wins, before losing three of their last four. Which is the real 2016 team?
We start, as always, with the Drink of the Week. Make sure to tell us what you’re up to via Twitter (@birdseyeviewbal), or on Untapped (jakee4025 and magn8606).

    The Pen Is Mightier

Is the bullpen really what it seems? And by that, we mean this: is our perception of the bullpen correct? We take a look at the first 11 games of 2016, and make some interesting notes of comparison through the Buck Showalter era. The thing that will allow this team to sink or swim is the pitching. So the question really is: is the pen mightier?

    Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.

    Around the Bases

Around the Bases is our segment we turn to when there is either too much going on to devote an entire segment to, or… not enough. You be the judge.
As the Orioles round out their Spring Training schedule, we take the leftovers, give them a stir, and throw them back in the microwave. Join us, as we go Around the Bases on the following:
First Base: Does Miggy come back to the organization, does he contribute at the MLB level?
Second Base: Is JJ for real this season? what will we get from him?
Third Base: So guys, what is a “Xavier Avery”
Home Plate: What metrics should we be watching to tell us if Schoop is having the breakout season we all hope/expect?
    Interview with Ryan Wagner

What’s the one thing you want to hear on Opening Day? No, it’s not the drunken cries coming from Pickles.
Ryan Wagner, Public Address Announcer of the Baltimore Orioles, joins to prepare for the 2016 season and to give us his insight on MLB Social Media policy, the Baltimore Riots, and Top 40 Music right now.

Do you know what will happen in 2016? If so, that makes one of us. Every pre-season, we make terrible predictions, and this year is no exception. The Sound from Nashville

One of our favorite guests is Matt Taylor, who writes the Roar From 34 blog. Matt was kind enough to join us to discuss a couple of pieces he’s written recently, and make a few bold predictions.
Check out his thoughts on starters’ early struggles and a very “elite club” of homers and strikeouts, which lead our discussion on this segment.
Also check the blog, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary (!), and will be revisiting the 1966 season in its Flashback Friday features.
Lastly, Matt is an incredibly nice dude, and you can follow him on Twitter @roarfrom34.
