    Leading Off
Well, the Orioles have Spring Training win, so that’s… something. And hey, Hyun Soo Kim has a hit. The Birds even have Pedro Alvarez (and yes, that means Scott’s dark horse roster candidate is on the team). What’s more, we’re only 19 days away from Opening Day. Hang in there, Birdland – we’re almost there.
Thanks to everyone who watched our episode preview on Periscope. Find us on Periscope – birdseyeviewbal. Each week, we’ll broadcast an episode preview as well as the worst ideas that didn’t make the show.
We start, as always, with the Drink of the Week. Make sure to tell us what you’re up to via Twitter (@birdseyeviewbal), or on Untapped (jakee4025 and magn8606).

Matt Wieters gave fans a nice little scare this week, by being removed from a Spring Training game with elbow soreness. This may amount to nothing, but it got us to wondering: what does the Orioles’ depth look like at the catcher position? Beyond that, what does the depth look like around the diamond? We discuss areas of strengths and weaknesses, and try to dispassionately determine how the O’s stack up against the rest of the league.

The BEV guys welcome Derek Arnold of Eutaw Street Report to the show. They also find a way to avoid Panic! at the Ballpark. Spring Training is an interesting time. Let's hope it makes for a more fun regular season.

We’re another week closer to the start of the season. The Orioles are… getting their work in. Here’s hoping that their efforts pay off in April, because they won’t be winning any Grapefruit League trophies this year.

When we say “friend of the program,” we mean it. Derek Arnold of Eutaw Street Report has been a supporter of Bird’s Eye View, way before we deserved even half of that support. Derek knows his Orioles. Also, he’s an incredibly good dude, who happens to be Senior Editor at Russell Street Report and Eutaw Street Report. Check him out on Twitter @eutawstreport, and his personal handle @BMoreBirdsNest.
We discuss the state of the Orioles, whether we should Panic! at the Ballpark, and drinks of the week.

    Blowing the Save

Most podcasts try to end on a high note – the perfect coda to a quality program. That’s just not our style. Each week, we’ll end on a weak note, blowing the save with an item that didn’t quite fit into the episode, or something they simply need to get off their chests. It’s our version of taking the ball and pulling a Kevin Gregg.

Ah, the Medical Wing. We almost forgot about this recurring segment. It’s that point in Spring Training when we get to make woefully irresponsible health speculation. First up on the chopping block: Chris Tillman.

    Rosterbation

The offseason is all over but the shouting. For this segment, we assume that Dexter Fowler will be signed, because everyone in the media is telling us it’s basically a done deal, and we take a look at what the O’s roster will look like, out of camp.
Who is your dark horse candidate to make the roster?

    Over/Under

@MarkZinno: Jones, Davis, Manny, Wiets, Schoop plus a bounce back from Hardy = better lineup than the BJays. Wager?
    — Jabby Burns (@Jabbyburns) February 22, 2016

We show a little BSRN love, by taking sisterwife podcaster Jabby Burns to task for his musical taste. Then we talk about the difference between being an optimistic O’s fan and a pessimistic one, in what has been one of the more interesting offseasons in franchise history. Overs and unders get considered. Jonathan Schoop is mentioned. It’s a good time.
Jab can be found on Twitter @JabbyBurns, and appears alongside our favorite Floridian Zach Wilt on  Baltimore Sports Today, the daily podcast from the Baltimore Sports Report ...

Come on, Orioles – do something or don’t. It’s not or never, our love won’t wait.*
Rumor has it that the Orioles are nearing a deal with Yvonni Gallardo, in the neighborhood of 3 years, for $40-45MM. Rumor also has it that, if the Orioles are willing to part with their first pick in this year’s draft (#14), that they’ll also be willing to part with their second (#29), and the natural choice is Dexter Fowler.
We talked about it in the last show. Going for these two free agents, at the expense of strengthening the farm system basically comes down to “win now” mode.

*of course it will, we run an Orioles podcast, we aren’t well balanced people.
