After a traumatic hospital birth she decided to birth at home and empower herself to take control of her next birthing experiences. Over the years Vanessa has endured many ups and downs but never let those circumstances get in the way of having beautifully transformative home births. We talk to Vanessa about overcoming birth trauma, how emotions can impact your birth outcome and how she utilized essential oils for both physical and emotional support during her births.  

Michelle is a MaxLiving patient of Dr. V's. She's had 8 home births. (some attended by midwives but most of them being unassisted) We have such a wonderful conversation with her about not overcomplicating it and really trusting your body and the process. Michelle had a rough start breastfeeding with every one of her babies but with perseverance and trust she was able to have long, beautiful breastfeeding relationships with all 8 of her babies. 

We were so lucky to have Alexis sharing her birth story on the day of her son's first birthday. What a great way to celebrate! What a tough mama Alexis is. Her birth process started on Thursday, and her son wasn't born until Sunday. She was determined to have a home birth, and "time" certainly wasn't going to get in the way of that. 

On this episode we have first time mom Krista who boldly decided to have a home birth despite her mom being a L&D nurse. When she first was pregnant she thought home births were illegal in NC (a common misconception) so she sought out the care of a MedWife in the Hospital system. After being very disappointed she changed care providers and decided on a home birth. 

Jessica's first home birth ended up in a transfer, largely in part because of who she chose as her midwife. We discuss how important it is to choose your birth team very carefully because they can positively or negatively impact the outcome of your birth. She went on to have two home births after that and describes them as being totally redemptive. The theme of this episode is definitely to tune into your intuition and trust your gut when it comes to birth. 

Jenina is a second generation home birther. She and her brother were both born at home. She shares details about her three beautiful home births that were attended by a very supportive authentic midwife. Jenina even inspired a close neighbor to go on and have five home births after having the privilege of attending one of hers. 

Dr. Liz is a chiropractor who had been researching and learning all she could about the birth process before even becoming pregnant. This lead to her choosing to freebirth.
