Jody shares how she barely made it to the hospital for her first birth, only to have the doctor pull on the cord in order to get the placenta out faster. That landed her in the O.R. for a surgical removal of her placenta. She vowed that that would never happen again. She decided to have her next baby at home. Dr. Vivian provided chiropractic care to her and her family throughout (and before) this pregnancy and Jani had the honor and privilege of attending her beautiful, quick home birth.
Anna was newly married and preparing for a beautiful home birth only to find out that her midwife would abandon her when she was "overdue" at 42 weeks pregnant. She was pressured into going into the hospital which eventually led to a c-section. While this was absolutely devastating, she knew her body was still capable of having a vaginal birth at home. When she became pregnant with her second and third babies, she found a new midwife and went on to have the home births she knew she could have.
Taylor had planned a birth center birth for her first baby but on the day her labor started she found out they had unexpectedly closed. She proceeded to have a very long, traumatic hospital birth. She vowed she would never give birth in a hospital again. When she became pregnant with her second baby, she decided on a home birth. She researched, prepared and found a birth team she trusted. Taylor shares in great detail how both of her births went and how they impacted her, both physically and emotionally.
Chelsea had the privilege of being present for her one of her sister's home births and she said that seeing how beautiful and peaceful it was, she knew she would eventually birth at home too. As a first time mom, she shares her journey through her pregnancy and how she prepared her body both mentally and physically for birth.
Alyssa always wanted a home birth but had her first two babies in a birth center. She wanted to make her husband and family feel more comfortable. For her third baby she did have a home birth and she shares how mentally preparing during pregnancy played a huge part in how her births unfolded.
Jani's cousin Brigitte joins us on this episode and shares with us how she came to the decision to birth unassisted (only months before graduating from chiropractic college and then two more times after that) She describes how she navigated her pregnancies without traditional prenatal care as well as how she handled getting negative feedback for the choices she had made. We are thrilled that our listeners will get to hear all of her birthing and mothering wisdom.
On this episode we speak to The Breast Cancer Conqueror. (Who happens to be Jani's aunt.) Dr. Véronique Desaulniers is a world renowned chiropractor, author, health coach and speaker who shares her own personal journey to heal cancer naturally with women all over the world. She shares the details of her 3 home births as well as having the honor of being present when her grandchildren were born at home.
Crystal is a mom of 3 who had all her babies at home. She describes how she never knew about home birth but as soon as she learned that it was a "thing", she was all in. All three of her births were very different and one of them even happened in a "Tiny Home".
It was such a pleasure to have one of our Birthing Outside the Box mama's on the show this week. She shares with us her two first hospital births, which she describes as being quite traumatic and how she goes on to have two redemptive home births of 11 & 12 lbs babies.
