No. 5-ranked North Dakota State had two key stops on fourth down and added an interception to help earn a 16-10 victory against the No. 10-ranked University of North Dakota on Saturday in Missouri Valley Football Conference play at the Alerus Center.
The Bison (4-0, 1-0 MVFC) won at the Alerus Center for the first time in three tries. UND (2-2, 0-1) had its 12-game home winning streak snapped. NDSU has won 11 consecutive conference openers.
Bison quarterback Quincy Patterson scored on a 3-yard run with 1 minute, 13 seconds remaining to give NDSU a 16-7 lead before UND added a late field goal. The Bison played in Grand Forks for the first time since 2003.
